Cape Coral man arrested for possession of child pornography
A Cape Coral man has been arrested after detectives say they found child pornography on his devices.
Eduardo Antonio Arango Ruiz, 69, was arrested on Monday, August 17, after an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement led to him.
The investigation began when FDLE agents received notice from the Lake County Sheriff's Office that someone used a peer-to-peer filing-sharing website — such as Dropbox or BitTorrent — to download files depicting child sexual abuse.
After identifying the user as Ruiz, agents conducted a search on Ruiz's home and found a device containing child sexual abuse material.
The suspect was arrested less than a week later and is in custody at the Lee County Jail on 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
His bond is $50,000. He is scheduled to appear in court for a hearing on August 25.
