Kalyan Dombivli's students set record with eco friendly ganesh idol workshop with 4657 participants

The Kalyan Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) organised a mega workshop themed 'Harit Bappa – Phalit Bappa' at the Sant Sawalaram Maharaj Sports Complex in Dombivli East to promote an eco-friendly and awareness-driven Ganesh festival. The event, conducted in two sessions, attracted approximately 4,657 students from 80 schools within KDMC's jurisdiction. Participants received hands-on, free training in crafting Ganesh idols using Shadu, a traditional and eco-friendly natural clay medium. The initiative set a new world record, officially recognised by the India Book of Records and the OMG Book of Records, and is proposed for inclusion in the Limca Book of Records. Project Head and Executive Engineer Rohini Lokare and Education Today Foundation CEO Vinda Biscute stated that such programmes not only preserve traditional artistry but also instil cultural pride and environmental responsibility among students. KDMC Commissioner and Administrator Abhinav Goel (IAS) commended the campaign's success and urged ganesh mandals to install idols under six feet in height and opt for immersion in artificial ponds to protect natural water bodies. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top 15 Prettiest Icons In The History The Noodle Box Undo You Can Also Check: Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai | Gold Rates Today in Mumbai | Silver Rates Today in Mumbai With the Ganesh festival approaching, Goel hopes the initiative will inspire thousands of households to celebrate with devotion while safeguarding the environment.
