Zamalek name Ayman El Ramady interim coach after Peseiro exit - Egyptian Football

Egyptian giants Zamalek appointed Ayman El Ramady as interim coach until the end of the current season, the club announced on Wednesday, following the departure of Portuguese manager José Peseiro. El Ramady replaces Peseiro, who left by mutual consent after a short spell in charge that saw the club eliminated from both the CAF Confederation Cup and the Egyptian League Cup. A veteran tactician, El Ramady, 60, guided many teams in the UAE since 2006 before debuting in the Egyptian Premier League with Aswan in 2022 and delivering outstanding performances in the 2022/2023 season. Joining the White Knights, he returns to the touchline after departing his post with Egyptian League club Ceramica Cleopatra last February. Peseiro, 65, was hired as Zamalek's coach on 14 February to become the team's third coach this season, succeeding Swiss coach Christian Gross, who was fired after a series of poor results. On Monday, Zamalek was held to a 2-2 draw by National Bank of Egypt in the fourth round of the league's final phase. This left them third in the standings with 40 points. Under Peseiro's guidance, Zamalek played 13 games in different competitions, winning six, drawing six, and losing the remaining one. El Ramady will coach Zamalek against his previous club, Ceramica Cleopatra, on Friday in the next round of the Egyptian Premier League. Coach Peseiro leaves Egypt's Zamalek after three months

-Zamalek ended Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro's contract by mutual consent, the Egyptian soccer club said on Wednesday, after less than three months in charge due to poor results. "An agreement has been reached between Zamalek and coach Jose Peseiro to mutually terminate the contract," the club said on Facebook. "We wish you the best in your future endeavours." Former Porto and Sporting Lisbon coach Peseiro, 65, joined Zamalek on February 14 to become only the fifth coach to lead both Egyptian rivals Zamalek and Al-Ahly. However, Zamalek, the defending champions, were eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup and the Egyptian League Cup under Peseiro, and a poor run in the league saw them slip to third place, seven points adrift of leaders Pyramids. Peseiro has previously coached the national teams of Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, as well as the Saudi club Al-Hilal and United Arab Emirates' teams Al Wahda and Sharjah. Ali Maher succeeds El Ramadi as Ceramica Cleopatra coach - Egyptian Football

Masry's departing coach Ali Maher has been appointed as Ceramica Cleopatra new coach to succeed Ayman El Ramadi whose contract was ended amicably earlier on Monday. After a series of poor results, Ceramica Cleopatra announced early today that it was parting ways with the 59-year-old El Ramadi by mutual consent. Then, it announced that it had hired Maher as their new coach. 'The club board decided to appoint Maher as the team's new coach in an important step to enhance the performance and achieving goals of next term,' the club said in a statement. Ceramica Cleopatra didn't secure a single win in the last five league games, losing three and drawing in two. The dismissal of El Ramadi comes 48 hours after Saturday's 2-0 league loss to Gouna. El Ramadi, who took charge in July 2023, has guided the team through 60 matches, securing 23 wins and 17 draws and losing the remaining 29 games. His prominent achievement with the team was guiding them to win the Egyptian League Cup title twice in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 seasons. The team currently lie seventh in the Egyptian Premier League table with 21 points from 15 games, 15 points behind leaders Pyramids FC. Quick appointment Maher's appointment comes hours after the Port Said-based Masry announced his departure following the team's recent struggles. Masry has recently dropped in form, winning only one of the last five games. However, it remains fifth in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 24 points, nine behind joint leaders Pyramids FC and Ahly. Their latest setback was a scoreless draw against relegation-threatened Ismaily on Saturday. The 51-year-old former Ahly player Maher took over Masry in 2023 for a second stint and propelled the team into the top four, their best position in five years. Maher, who announced his retirement as a player in 2004, was a coach for several Egyptian premier league clubs, including Al Assiouty, Smouha, Enppi, Masry and Future FC.
