Public Prosecution releases creator of AI-generated unofficial promo video for the GEM
The Egyptian Public Prosecution decided on Friday has chosen to release Abdel-Rahman Khaled, the creator of a widely circulated AI-generated video unofficially promoting the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). The release followed his interrogation and subsequent denial of the charges leveled against him. Khaled said that his goal in creating and distributing the video was to promote the GEM. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities had previously dropped the complaint filed against Khaled. The ministry explained that the AI-generated promo does not represent the official announcement for the opening ceremony of GEM, scheduled to open on November 1. It added that the video was not produced or directed by the ministry or the United Media Services Company, the official partner responsible for promoting the event.
