Eiffage Construction delivers three production halls for Airbus Atlantic in Rochefort, France

Eiffage Construction, a division of European construction company Eiffage, has completed the delivery of three production halls for Airbus Atlantic in Rochefort, France. The halls, part of a design-build contract awarded in April 2023, are expected to accelerate the aircraft manufacturer's production and create 200 jobs in the region. Eiffage Construction claims the project necessitated meeting tight deadlines, delivering the halls in time while adhering to stringent technical and environmental standards. The two 2,441m² storage spaces, Hall 1 and 2, and the 1,920m² Hall 3 each have distinguishing features. The structure of Halls 1 and 2 incorporates a steel frame, acoustic cladding, and a double-layer roof, designed to meet the demands of a high-performance logistics facility. Hall 3, a production workshop, features a hybrid concrete and wood structure, complemented by finishes matching those of the first two halls. A 575m² building situated between Halls 2 and 3 provides essential social areas, including offices and toilet facilities. The project's energy efficiency measures boast a 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to RT2012 thermal regulations and compliance with the latest RE2020 standards for office spaces. Eiffage Construction has also implemented an optimised rainwater management system, which includes underground tanks designed to collect runoff from fires, roofs, and parking areas. ARTELIA acted as the client representative for the project. The project team included BPG as the lead architect and ILAO as the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineer. Eiffage Route managed roadworks and utilities, with KELLER handling rigid inclusions, and FRANKI Fondation in charge of piling. Earlier this month, Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Construcción, in partnership with Acciona, won a contract to design and construct a new urban circuit in Madrid, Spain, which will potentially host Formula 1 races. Madrid F1 circuit can be the world's best, says Carlos Sainz

Madrid's Madring Formula One circuit can host the best race on the calendar when it debuts next season, according to home driver Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard told reporters on Friday the 5.47km layout, with 22 turns, will have its own hybrid character with tight street sections and a more open area with high-speed corners. 'I think we can be the best circuit in the world and the best event of the whole calendar,' said the Madrid-born Williams driver, who took part in a press conference as an event ambassador. 'There will be 24 or 25 races, and I honestly think along with Mexico, Miami, Las Vegas that do it very well but sincerely I trust a lot in Madrid and I believe that Madrid can do better.' Local authorities said licences and paperwork were ready from Friday for building work to begin. Spanish engineering firm Acciona and France's Eiffage have won the contract to construct the circuit in an urban area in Madrid's northeast, around the IFEMA exhibition centre. It is expected to be completed by May 2026 and cost €83.2m (R1.76bn), Acciona said. The Madrid circuit will eventually replace Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya, host of the Spanish Grand Prix, which is located some 32km from the eastern port city with a roughly 45-minute walk from the nearest station. Spain is set for an overlap next season with Madrid and Barcelona, which will be in the last year of its contract, both expected to feature.

Eiffage and Acciona to build Madrid's new F1 urban circuit

A consortium comprising Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Construcción, and Acciona has secured a contract to design and construct Madrid's new urban circuit intended for Formula 1 races. The project is valued at €83.2m ($95.4m), with Eiffage's portion amounting to €33.3m. The scope of work under this contract encompasses the full range of temporary infrastructure services from construction, assembly, and dismantling to the post-event rehabilitation of streets and utilities. Additionally, it involves the development of new roads and facilities dedicated to sporting events. The project, backed by fair organisation IFEMA Madrid, is situated in the northeastern part of the city. The consortium commits to the project's environmental goals by proposing the repurposing of approximately 700,000m³ of soil from excavation works, of which 60% will be used on-site while the remaining 40% will be recycled at other locations in the future. The consortium plans to reduce CO₂ emissions at the site by using hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) in construction machinery and applying photocatalytic substances to road surfaces to cut gas emissions. To endorse rainwater infiltration and replenish water tables, it will implement a sustainable urban drainage system. In addition, the project will transplant 583 trees and install 4,259m² of portable acoustic barriers in noise-sensitive areas. Construction activities are scheduled to begin in April 2026 and conclude in time for the Spanish Grand Prix next summer. Eiffage Construcción has experience in sports infrastructure development, resurfacing the Jerez Circuit for the MotoGP World Championship in 2009 and laying the track in Carmona. Recently, Eiffage Construction completed the conversion of the former Courrier Picard headquarters in Amiens, France, into a residential project called 'Recto Verso'.
