'Stay Safe, Bluffton!' scholarship applications being accepted

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WSAV) — The Town of Bluffton is accepting scholarship applications through March 1, 2025, for up to four (4) $1,500 scholarships. The town will award the scholarships to local seniors and college students who are safe driving ambassadors. The 'Stay Safe, Bluffton!' scholarships are awarded to honor academic and civic achievement while encouraging all students to influence their peers to be safe drivers in order to reduce vehicle incidents. 'Stay Safe, Bluffton!' is a local safe driving campaign, to reduce traffic collisions in our region and raise awareness of mindful driving, especially among our town's younger residents. For complete scholarship application information, click here. Town leaders say the campaign, annual 5K race (held in conjunction with the Town's Independence Day celebration to raise funds for these scholarships), and resulting scholarships act as a reminder for everyone to '#justdrive and be mindful of not multi-tasking while driving.' The four scholarship winners will be chosen from Bluffton High School, May River High School, private high schools, homeschooled seniors, or a local college/vocational school student. Scholarship winners will be announced in April. The Town's annual 5K will be held in conjunction with the Town's Independence Day celebration to raise funds for these scholarships.
