The viewership estimates reflect the number of individuals who watched at least one full episode of a show or 30 minutes of a film. These figures are based on primary audience research and are projected to the OTT universe in India, excluding overseas audiences.
Hindi-language fiction continues to dominate the Indian streaming landscape. Titles such as
Paatal Lok
S2 (16.8 million), The Legend of Hanuman S6 (16.2 million), and The Royals (15.5 million) performed strongly across platforms.
Netflix also found success with its original Hindi film Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins, which attracted 13.1 million viewers. Another Netflix film, Dhoom Dhaam, drew 12.1 million.
International content also made its presence felt. The third season of Korean series Squid Game was the fifth most-watched title, with 16.5 million viewers. The Last of Us S2, available on JioHotstar, drew 8 million viewers. These numbers reflect the growing consumption of global content dubbed or subtitled in Indian languages.
Several reality and non-fiction shows featured prominently in the rankings. Hip Hop India S2 on Amazon MX Player attracted 11.1 million viewers, while The Great Indian Kapil Show S3 on Netflix reached 10.9 million. Shark Tank India S4 on Sony LIV also performed well with 10.3 million viewers. These titles reflect a continuing demand for non-scripted entertainment on streaming platforms.
Among regional language shows, Tamil and Malayalam content gained meaningful traction. Amazon Prime Video's Suzhal – The Vortex S2 reached 8.3 million viewers, while Heart Beat S2 and Kerala Crime Files S2, both on JioHotstar, reached 7 million and 6.9 million viewers, respectively. Telugu-language content was represented by Devika & Danny with 5.2 million viewers.
JioHotstar led in terms of the number of titles on the top 50 list, offering a range of shows across genres and languages. Amazon Prime Video also had a strong presence, with several high-performing originals. Netflix, while contributing fewer titles, consistently delivered content that ranked in the top half of the list, especially in the fiction and film categories.
Ormax Media's methodology accounts for unduplicated audiences, meaning an individual is counted only once regardless of how many times they watched a program. The estimates include viewers who may have accessed content through unofficial or pirated channels. All versions, including dubbed audio feeds, are considered in the estimates.
With multiple high-profile shows launching in the second half of June and their performance still being tracked, the final rankings for the year may change. However, the data for the first six months reflects sustained interest in returning franchises, a diverse mix of genres, and increased viewership across both fiction and non-fiction formats.
