Meet Vinod Mehra's daughter, whose debut film was super flop, got no lead role in 7 years, quit Bollywood after..., now lives in Dubai, her name is...
Late superstar Vinod Mehra's daughter, Soniya Mehra, caught significant attention with her brief appearances in movies like Ek Mai Ek Tu and Ragini MMS 2 . She made her debut in 2007 with Victoria No.203, and also appeared in TV series Shadow. Soon after her last appearance in Ragini MMS 2, Soniya vanished from the limelight and moved to Dubai, now working as Yoga instructor. Recently, in an interview, the actress talked about the break in her acting career and revealed unknown aspects of her personal life.
While speaking to Friday magazine, Mehra shared, 'Most people who want to be a part of the film industry are dreamers and artists who have big dreams and ambitions. I had those same desires too, and I tried my hand at it. I'm so grateful to have experienced the industry and am happy to have landed a few projects.' When asked about her biggest learnings as a Bollywood actress, she said, '[I think it's important] to always give your best in everything you do. Even if you don't succeed at least you tried.'
Talking about her career as a yoga instructor, Sonia said, 'It was my maternal aunt and my mother who got me interested in yoga, something that has remained with me all my life. It is more of a lifestyle now; it is something I am rather than something I 'do'. I learn more about it every day.'
Recently, while speaking to E-Times, Sonia hushed the rumours of her break from Bollywood and stated that she is still very keen to work as an actress. She said, ' I gave it my best but unfortunately I didn't get offers which resonated with me. It's very important to get roles that you get excited about. So yeah, I am very much open to working in films of any language. In fact, I have also been in touch with many good filmmakers in India. It's just that I am not possessed that I must invariably get a lot of work and I should grab it for just the heck of being in the rate race. I want to be satisfied as an artiste rather than just as an actor.'
During the same conversation, Soniya revealed that she's engaged with Kunal, a Mumbai-based broker. 'Nobody knows this and I am speaking about Kunal for the first time. We have been together for 7 years and even got engaged about a year and half back. I believe in the institution of marriage. It will be taking our relationship to another level. But personally I don't believe that two people who truly love each other need to necessarily marry. Marriage is a very small part of love. It is not necessary that a man and woman who have been married to each other for 7 years are in love more than Kunal and I who still haven't tied the nuptial knot.' Mehra said.
While talking about leaving India and settling in Dubai, Sonia said, 'Well, it's not that I went out of India only recently. I had initially gone to London for some time. Then I got a very good job as a yoga instructor in Dubai, so I decided to park myself here. Yoga has been a very intrinsic part of me, ever since I used it at the age of 13 to cure myself from lower back pain. Slowly but surely I realised that I can use it further to make people's lives better. I mastered it and I am very passionate about it.'
