"Siko Siko" Becomes Second Highest-Grossing Egyptian Film of all Time

Yara Sameh Egyptian stars Taha Desouky and Essam Omar's comedy film "Siko Siko" has become the 2nd highest earning film in Egyptian cinema. Flying past Beit El Ruby's EGP 129 million gross from 2023, the pic has grossed EGP 135 million three weeks after it was released in cinemas. 'Welad Rizk 3: El Qadya' (EGP 260 million), 'El Hareefa: Al Remontada' (EGP 127 million), "Kira & El Gin" (EGP 117 million), and "The Blue Elephant 2" (EGP 103 million) are now the only films ahead of 'Siko Siko' in terms of the highest-grossing films of all time at the Egyptian box office. "Siko Siko" boasts a cast that includes Tara Emad, Bassem Samra, Ali Sobhy, Khaled El Sawy, Diana Hisham, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and more. Omar El Mohandes helmed the film from a script by Mohamed El Dabbah, which took two years of writing and production to come to light and was initially set to be a TV series before it turned into a film. 'Siko Siko' is a social comedy that revolves around "Two cousins, both from a middle-class background, finally see their dream come true when their inheritance is rightfully returned to them following their uncle's death. Soon after, and to their shock, they discover that the inheritance is in the form of illegal goods. In order to liquidate these goods, they create an elaborate mobile game in order to sell the goods through it. They call this game… 'Siko Siko'. The cousins enjoy a brief moment of spectacular success before a mob boss appears in their lives, and claims to be the real owner of the goods!". The feature marks Desouky and Omar's first major role in a film. It is co-produced by United Film Production, Film Square, and producer Ahmed Badawy. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Egypt confirms denial of airspace access to US B-52 bombers News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Lifestyle Pistachio and Raspberry Cheesecake Domes Recipe News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Arts & Culture Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's $4.7M LA Home Burglarized Videos & Features Bouchra Dahlab Crowned Miss Arab World 2025 .. "El Hareefa: Al Remontada" Gets Streaming Date

Yara Sameh Rising Egyptian actor Nour El Nabawy's film "El Hareefa: Al Remontada" will make its streaming debut on Yango Play on Friday, March 28. The pic is the follow-up to the film "El Hareefa". In February, the film received the sequel treatment following its massive performance at the domestic box office that reached EGP 75 million. The follow-up features original cast members Nour El Nabawy, Ahmed Ghozzi, Kozbra, Abdulrahman Mohamed, Salim El Turk, Khaled El Zahaby, and more. Asmaa Galal, Asser Yassin, and English football legend Michael Owen are set to guest star in the pic. The original film follows Majed, who is forced to leave his high-end life and move from a private school to a public school. Over time, he gains the respect of his classmates with his football skills. "El Hareefa: Al Remontada" follows El Hareefa's decision to achieve their dream together after winning the championship in the first part. The sequel is scripted by Eiad Saleh, directed by Karim Saad, and produced by Tarek El Ganainy. "El Hareefa: Al Remontada" hit cinemas on December 4 and achieved remarkable success, grossing EGP127 million and surpassing 'Kira & El Gin', which earned approximately EGP120 million during the 2022 Eid al-Adha movie marathon. This milestone places 'El Hareefa 2: El Remontada" as the third highest-grossing film in Egyptian cinema history, pushing 'Kira & El Gin' down to fourth place. Will There Be a El Hareefa 3?

Yara Sameh Producer Tarek El Genainy revealed there will be plans for a third film of the "El Hareefa". The first film was released in January 2024 and achieved a massive performance at the domestic box office that reached EGP 75 million. In February, the film received sequel treatment titled "El Hareefa: Al Remontada" following its massive performance. The follow-up surpassed the first film's revenues by double, ranking among the top 10 films in the history of Egyptian cinema. "The revenues of the second part of "El Hareefa" doubled the first film, and this is something that doesn't happen often," he said, "After we finished shooting the second film, during the editing stage, I saw that sequels don't achieve the success of the first film worldwide." El Genainy added: "El Hareefa did something I haven't seen much, even as a person who loves cinema, I haven't seen an impact like what the film did before.' 'We will make a third part, God willing, but not now, it will take while," he concluded.
