Security drags ex WWE star off daytime TV show after physical clash
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Former WWE superstar Albert El Patron was dragged off a TV set by security after appearing to snap during an interview. The 48-year-old wrestler, best known to WWE fans as Albert Del Rio, was on TV Azteca's morning show Venga La Alegria to promote this weekend's TV tapings in Mexico City. He was on the programme when Vikingo, the father of his opponent El Hijo del Vikingo, appeared and confronted him about the bout. Things took a chaotic turn, as El Patron attacked him and shoved him to the ground, with a woman shouting for security as the former world champion put his hands on a member of staff. He was seen pushing a man who appeared to be a presenter, while security dragged the wrestler away amid plenty of shouting. TV Azteca and the presenters have claimed the incident was real, according to local media, although it appears to have been a stunt to promote this weekend's show. El Patron will defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Hijo Del Vikingo this weekend, when he's expected to drop the title. WWE recently announced it had purchased the AAA Lucha Libre promotion, and the controversial star isn't expected to be part of their plans. Vikingo is set to face Raw star Chad Gable at WWE and AAA's Worlds Collide event on June 7, and an advert ran for the match on Raw this week promoting it as a AAA Mega Championship bout with Vikingo defending, seemingly spoiling this weekend's AAA shows. Announcing the AAA acquisition in April over WrestleMania weekend, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque said: 'AAA has a rich cultural heritage with some of the most passionate fans in the world and it's an honor to work with the Peña family to embark on this journey. 'By bringing together WWE's global capabilities and AAA's amazing tradition, we look forward to an exciting future filled with new opportunities.' And AAA General Manager Dorian Roldán Peña added: 'AAA has been a family-operated promotion for over three decades and our trust could not be better placed than with one of the biggest sports entertainment businesses in the world.' The company, which was founded in 1992 by Antonio Peña, has seen the likes of WWE Hall of Famers Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, and current Raw star Penta, pass through their doors. More Trending As Alberto Del Rio, El Patron spent four years on the main roster between 2010 and 2014, before being let go 'due to unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee'. In 2020, El Patron was arrested and later faced charges of aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault towards his then-girlfriend. View More » The charges were dropped due to a missing witness in December 2021, and the wrestler was cleared. Got a story? WWE accidentally reveals the result of Vikingo's AAA Mega Championship bout ahead of Worlds Collide?
WWE might have accidentally revealed the result of an important title match coming up in Mexico. During the May 26 episode of Raw, a match graphic for the Worlds Collide event showed Chad Gable vs El Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship. The problem? Vikingo isn't the champion yet. The current AAA Mega Champion is Alberto El Patron, also known as Alberto Del Rio. He's supposed to defend the title against Vikingo on May 31. But with WWE already promoting the Gable vs Vikingo bout as a title match, it seems like they've quietly spoiled the May 31 result. Unless something changes, it looks like Vikingo will beat El Patron and walk into Worlds Collide as the new champion. Some fans had already guessed this might happen. Even though El Patron has returned to AAA, he hasn't been part of any WWE programming. Vikingo, on the other hand, has made recent appearances and is seen as one of the key figures in this WWE x AAA partnership. So the idea of him winning the title and defending it on WWE turf makes sense. Still, revealing it early like this? That's not the smoothest move. WWE and Alberto Del Rio: A rocky past WWE likely never planned to include El Patron in any crossover content. Their relationship with him has been difficult over the years. He was once a top name in the company, even winning the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles. But since his release in 2016, he's had multiple controversies, legal troubles, and public fallouts with the company. WWE advertised El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Chad Gable at Worlds Collide as being for the AAA Mega Championship 👀Vikingo will challenge Alberto El Patron for the title on May 31.#WWERaw While he's resurfaced in AAA, WWE has kept their distance. Reports say the company doesn't want to associate with him on screen, which could be why they're ready to move the belt onto someone like Vikingo. The title match on May 31 was probably meant to be a stepping stone, not a main feature. Now, thanks to a simple graphic on Raw, fans know what's likely coming. Not the biggest mistake WWE has made but not ideal either.

15 people arrested for allegedly stealing copper from burned Altadena homes
Los Angeles County deputies near the Eaton Fire burn scar arrested 15 people over the weekend for allegedly stealing hundreds of pounds of copper, metal wiring and piping from Ataldena homes. The 16-hour operation happened this past Sunday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department believes the metals are typically sold for scrap. "They're happening at all hours of the day, but we believe most of them are occurring at night after the sun goes down," Lt. Ethan Marquez said. Marquez, who works at the Altadena Sheriff's Station, said the burglary rate in the area has spiked about 400% since the fires. He said the suspects walk into what's left of people's homes and rip the scrap metal out. In a recent arrest, deputies found about 500 pounds of metal stuffed into a suspect's trunk. Investigators believe the thieves are working alone, prompting them to increase patrols in the area. "We've almost tripled our staff here to combat what's going on," Marquez said. The burglaries have left some residents fearful that someone will steal from the little they have left after the fire. "I always make sure someone stays at home because I'm scared," El Patron owner Maggie Cortez said. "I'm scared someone can come inside my house." She urged anyone thinking about taking advantage of the burned ruins of Altadena to come to their senses. "You guys need to see the situation we're going through," Cortez said. "Everybody is hurt, and come on, please. I know one day you guys are going to have families, things. Please stop."

Texas man headed to prison in death of Fort Myers bar patron 2022
A Texas man will serve at least 25 years in prison for a 2022 late-night murder outside a Fort Myers restaurant. The State Attorney's Office, 20th Judicial Circuit released a news release Tuesday saying Hector Edgardo Perdomo, 27, of Lewisville, Texas, was convicted and sentenced on three counts: murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault with a firearm. A judge sentenced him to 40 years on the most serious charge, of which he must serve at least 25 years. Perdomo shot and killed Uriel Aragon on Nov. 13 in the parking lot of the El Patron Mexican Restaurant and Bar, 3639 Palm Beach Blvd., the State Attorney's Office said. Perdomo also shot a second victim, whose name is redacted in court documents. A witness told police he was at the bar with five friends, including Arvea, and they began to leave minutes before closing. A friend of the witness told him Perdomo shoved one of the other friends, then all headed out the door, according to Perdomo's arrests affidavit. Perdomo told the friend to wait, then walked out the door holding a gun. The witness said Perdomo pointed the gun at his friend and asked 'Do you want me to kill you?' or said, 'I am going to kill you.' The friend also told police that Perdomo said, pointing a gun at his chest, saying 'Do you want to die Ese?' before repeating, 'Do you want to die? Do you want to die?' The witness said he got between the two and said 'Calm down. What is wrong with you?' Perdomo shot the friend and then shot Aragon as Aragon turned toward him, the affidavit indicates. Perdomo then fled. Officials found him in Slidell, Louisiana, a month after the incident. He was sentenced as follows: Count I: Second Degree Murder with a Firearm: 40 years in prison with a 25-year minimum/mandatory Count II: Attempted Second Degree Murder: 30 years in prison with a 20-year minimum/mandatory Count III: Aggravated Assault with a Firearm: 5 years in prison All of the counts will run concurrently. The defendant shot and killed a man in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant and bar on November 13, 2022. A second person was shot and survived. The Fort Myers Police Department handled the investigation. The defendant was located in Slidell, Louisiana and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller, of the State Attorney's Office Homicide Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Ryan Pomponio prosecuted the case.
