Babymetal are on the cover of the new Metal Hammer as they prepare to unleash star-studded new album Metal Forth
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. As Babymetal hit London's O2 Arena and prepare to release new album Metal Forth, we speak to the trio about why they've gone collab crazy! Metal Forth features a whopping seven guest stars from the modern metal scene: Poppy, Spiritbox, Electric Callboy, Slaughter To Prevail, Bloodywood, Polyphia and Tom Morello. Babymetal singer Su-metal says they formed friendships with the artists through touring, resulting in an album that's 'incredibly rich and diverse'. The trio's ambition now is to inspire others. 'During the making of the new album Metal Forth, and throughout these past few years of touring, we've really felt that Babymetal is being recognised within the metal world, and that there are people we've influenced who are now becoming the next generation of metal artists,' says Su-metal. 'Our next goal is to help lead that next generation.' We also speak to the guest collaborators themselves, about what it's like to work with Japan's biggest and brightest metal band. 'After so many years of writing music mostly on our own, it was refreshing to have totally different influences come into play,' explains Electric Callboy's Kevin Ratajcazk of hit song Ratatata. 'It made us more aware of how easy it is to get stuck in your ways, and it helped us to think more outside the box.' Also in the issue, Metallica guitar legend Kirk Hammett reveals why he doesn't believe in retirement, why he's working on a new solo album – and why he cooked breakfast for Hollywood hotshot Jason Momoa. Volbeat's Michael Poulsen gets The Hammer Interview treatment, opening up about his friendship with King Diamond, his deep-dive into Satanism, and his weird obsession with… goats?! Plus, ahead of Linkin Park's show at Wembley Stadium, we investigate their triumph, tragedy and unlikely resurrection. Elsewhere, Opeth uncover the story behind their anthem Ghost Of Perdition, and System Of A Down bassist/Seven Hours After Violet man Shavo Odadjian talks deathcore, Cuban cigars and nonsense lyrics. We also remember the chaos of Nine Inch Nails' infamous Self Destruct touring cycle, find out why The Conjuring star Vera Farmiga has formed metal band The Yagas, and watch symphonic metal band Plague Of Angels take on a bunch of irate Christians by playing York Minster. All this, along with Sleep Token, Ghost, Bury Tomorrow, Confess, Kuunatic, Malevolence, Vexed, Kalandra, Incineration festival, Inferno festival and much, much more. Only in the new issue of Metal Hammer, on sale now. Order it online and have it delivered straight to your door.

NYT ‘Connections' Hints For Wednesday, May 28: Clues And Answers For Today's Game
Each day's game of NYT Connections goes live at midnight local time. As such, 'today's Connections hints and answers' depend on where you are in the world. In case you need them, here are the Connections hints and answers for Tuesday: It's Wednesday, and you know what that means: it's time for another game of Connections! FOMO, or the fear of missing out, is a horrible phenomenon. I try to dispel it as best I can, especially in situations where there isn't much I can do to avoid missing out on something cool or interesting. That said, I do wish I'd have gotten into Electric Callboy before locking in upcoming travel plans. The degree to which I have fallen for this band is shocking (As I write this, I'm listening to their catchy, dark new single, "Revery," on repeat). They're the definition of a "fun metal thing." I'm bummed that I didn't really listen to them before they toured North America in late 2023 and early 2024. Now I'll have to wait until at least next year for them to come around to these parts on their current world tour. The band did just start a European festival run last weekend. I've seen a bunch of clips and videos, and like everything else I've seen from the band's shows (I'm wayyyy down the rabbit hole here), it seems like such a great time to see them live. Unfortunately, none of the dates line up with my upcoming trip to Scotland, so I won't be able to take a short jaunt to the mainland to see Electric Callboy while I'm that part of the world on this trip. Nor do their November, January and February European dates line up with a trip I have booked for the holidays. Had I known in advance, I would have altered my plans. I mean, I could just blow all of my reward miles to fly over and see one of their festival dates over the next few weeks. There's nothing really stopping me, other than having to go through the whole international flight slog. But I'll just be patient. There's no chance I'm booking any travel for next year until I know the group's North American tour plans. My point here is that FOMO is a ridiculous concept. Either go and do the thing you don't want to miss out on or wait patiently for your next opportunity. Fretting about it does you no good. Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. Discord is also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up. I don't look at the comments or Twitter much. You can also read my weekend editions of this column at my new newsletter, Pastimes. Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Wednesday, May 28 are coming right up. Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app. You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part. There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them. Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay. Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap. If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed. Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my hints via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query. Another perfect game brings my streak up to 92 wins. Can I make it to 100? Here's how I fared: 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟦🟦🟦🟦 Quite the lineup of words today! Just putting this out there, the first thing that came to mind when the grid popped up and CHICAGO appeared as the first word was "things associated with stars." Anyway, that, ROCKY, GLADIATIOR, CRASH (ugh) and MOONLIGHT are all movies that won the Oscar for Best Picture. But there were five of them so something had to give. JOIN helped me figure out the yellows first, so I squared those away. WHEEL, CHAIN, PEDAL and SADDLE had to go together after that for the greens. So far, so good. But I still had the five Best Picture contenders (so to speak) in the mix. What could link BLUEST, SKAT and POPE? 🤔 SKAT seemed like the odd one out there. It made me think of scatting, but that's spelled with a "c," so I figured that there was some kind of wordplay going on. Then it dawned on me. My music recommendation theme this week is ska! It's a group of music genres with a letter added! I can't lie, I felt good about figuring that one out, because I almost never get purples when they're adding, removing or changing a letter. These ones refer to blues (BLUEST), pop (POPE), rock (ROCKY) and ska (SKAT). That left the blues for the win. We already know I figured out that connection, more or less. I feel like this particular puzzle was almost made for me. I love making connections (duh), movies and music. The bike category was less tailored to me, personally, since I barely know how to ride a bike. That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Thursday's game if you need them. P.S. Keeping up with this week's ska punk theme, I saw this band last year. I never got hugely into Rancid, but I do really like a few of their songs, such as "Ruby Soho" and this one, "Time Bomb." I find it nearly impossible not to dance to this one a little: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! NYT Connections Today Hints Clues Help Answers Monday May 5 694
Looking for Sunday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the start of a new week! Hope you had a great weekend. I'm happy to be back with you. Did you miss me? It's Monday, and you know what that means around these parts: we kick things off with an upbeat song that will hopefully get you dancing, get those endorphins flowing and hopefully put you in a better mood. As tempted as I am to drop in an Electric Callboy song here (I've never fallen in love with a band this quickly to this degree), I know they won't be for everyone. So I'll refrain this time. However, a couple of years ago, they released a fantastic electronicore version of 'Everytime We Touch.' The version by Cascada (which borrowed the chorus from another song) is a Eurodance classic. Let's go with that one today: Before we begin, we have a great little community on Discord, where we chat about NYT Connections, the rest of the NYT games and all kinds of other stuff. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot, and you're more than welcome to hang out with us. No perfect game this time, but that's a 68th win in a row for yours truly. That's over double my previous best streak and over two-thirds of the way to 100! Here's how I fared: 🟨🟦🟨🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟪🟩🟪🟪 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟦🟦🟦🟦 COAST, SETTLE, FLOAT and DRIFT seemed like they'd go together but not quite! I was one away there. I felt immediately very silly that I did not consider CRUISE, which was right next to SETTLE. I made that swap and got the yellows. I realized that a BAT, TORPEDO, CIGAR and HOAGIE (a type of bread roll used to make submarine or "sub" sandwiches) all have similar shapes and tried those out. Alas, I was one away again. Looking at BAT, it dawned on me that could go with a bunch of vampire- or Dracula-related words. So I swapped that out for BATON and was surprised to get the purples. I thought they'd be the greens. Huh. BAT then went with CAPE, FANG and CASTLE for the greens. The blue connection was straightforward enough. Not sure I agree with the difficulty levels for this one! That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Tuesday's game if you need them. P.S. The answer to a recent edition of Wordle was 'clash,' and I realized that I don't think I've included a song by The Clash in this recommendation section before. Let's change that right now. To stick with our usual Monday theme of upbeat songs, let's go with the brilliant 'Rock The Casbah.' Well, it's upbeat at least in terms of the instrumentation. After writing the opening lines, singer Joe Strummer looked at them and "for some reason I started to think about what someone had told me earlier, that you get lashed out for owning a disco album in Iran." It's a song about freedom and it's one that's catchy as heck: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Call someone you love! Please follow my blog for more coverage of NYT Connections and other word games, and even some video game news, insights and analysis. It helps me out a lot! Sharing this column with other people who play Connections would be appreciated too.

NYT Connections Hints And Answers For Monday, April 28
Find the links between the words to win today's game of Connections. Looking for Sunday's NYT Connections hints, clues and answers instead? You can find them here: Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the start of a new week. It's Monday, and you know what that means around here: we kick off the column with a fun, upbeat song that will hopefully get you moving and get those endorphins flowing. For reasons I'll explain in a second, I'm doubling down today with two songs. The first one is from Alphabeat. I really enjoy everything I've head from that band and 'Fascination,' which was a hit for them in the U.K., is such a bop: Our second upbeat song isn't going to be for everyone, but I'm definitely more excited to share this one. Last year, Babymetal and Electric Callboy – two bands known for playing what's often called 'party metal' – collaborated on a song called 'Ratatata.' It's loud, it's over-the-top and it's so much fun. The guitars are heavy and the harsh vocals can be intense, but I hope that you'll give it a shot. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder I have no earthly idea how 'Ratatata' or Electric Callboy completely flew under my radar for so long, but I'm absolutely obsessed with it (and them, for that matter). I've barely been able to stop listening to the song for the past 10 days. I've been watching reaction videos and every live version I can find. It's now my morning alarm song. Most importantly for our purposes, it gets me dancing. I haven't quite been able to perfect Babymetal's routine for 'Ratatata,' but maybe I'll get there someday. I absolutely cannot wait to see them live soon. I am going to lose my mind when they play this one: Before we begin, I've set up a discussion group for NYT Connections and this column on Discord. We have a great little community over there and we chat about more than NYT games. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot. Don't scroll any further down the page until you're ready to find out today's Connections answers. This is your final warning! Today's Connections answers are... Hey now, my streak is now up to 62 wins. No perfect game today, though. Here's how I fared: 🟨🟩🟦🟪 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟩🟩🟩🟩 MOUSSE, SPRAY and WAX seemed like they would go together at first, but as I read all of the words out loud to double check I'd written out the word list properly, I realized that the first of those could be a homonym. So I tried a group of MOUSSE, BARE, HAIR and BORE as in animal soundalikes -- moose, bear, hare and boar. But nope! Not even close to a group there. I overthought things, as usual. As it turned out, BORE went with the purples. I thought that group would be blue at most. Seems kind of simple for a purple group. Still, it's fun that EXHAUST and TIRE work together both here and as car parts. The yellows were up next and I did not grumble about those hair products to myself at all. The blues then made sense to me. That left the greens, and I was very familiar with those. I didn't eat any vegetables as a kid and nor did I like the sauce that McDonalds used on Big Macs, so as a kid I would always ask for my order to be plain. Bun, patties and cheese, that was it. My go-to McDonalds order is much healthier these days. Probably because I haven't eaten at McDonalds in years. That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Tuesday's game if you need them. P.S. This is my partner's kid's favorite song, so this one is for her. I wager you might have heard this already since it's such a massive hit, but 'Apt.' by Rosé (of Blackpink fame) and Bruno Mars is just such a fantastic pop song. It's very funny to me that Mars went from this to "Fat Juicy & Wet" for his follow-up single: Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Call someone you love!
