Hey there, Connectors! Welcome to the start of a new week.
It's Monday, and you know what that means around here: we kick off the column with a fun, upbeat song that will hopefully get you moving and get those endorphins flowing.
For reasons I'll explain in a second, I'm doubling down today with two songs. The first one is from Alphabeat. I really enjoy everything I've head from that band and 'Fascination,' which was a hit for them in the U.K., is such a bop:
Our second upbeat song isn't going to be for everyone, but I'm definitely more excited to share this one. Last year, Babymetal and Electric Callboy – two bands known for playing what's often called 'party metal' – collaborated on a song called 'Ratatata.' It's loud, it's over-the-top and it's so much fun. The guitars are heavy and the harsh vocals can be intense, but I hope that you'll give it a shot.

I have no earthly idea how 'Ratatata' or Electric Callboy completely flew under my radar for so long, but I'm absolutely obsessed with it (and them, for that matter). I've barely been able to stop listening to the song for the past 10 days. I've been watching reaction videos and every live version I can find. It's now my morning alarm song.
Most importantly for our purposes, it gets me dancing. I haven't quite been able to perfect Babymetal's routine for 'Ratatata,' but maybe I'll get there someday. I absolutely cannot wait to see them live soon. I am going to lose my mind when they play this one:
Before we begin, I've set up a discussion group for NYT Connections and this column on Discord. We have a great little community over there and we chat about more than NYT games. Everyone who has joined has been lovely. It's a fun hangout spot.
It's also the best way to give me any feedback about the column, especially on the rare (or not-so-rare) occasions that I mess something up, since I don't look at the comments or Twitter much.
Today's NYT Connections hints and answers for Monday, April 28, are coming right up.
Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play on the NYT's website or Games app.
You're presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by figuring out the links between them. The groups could be things like items you can click, names for research study participants or words preceded by a body part.
There's only one solution for each puzzle, and you'll need to be careful when it comes to words that might fit into more than one category. You can shuffle the words to perhaps help you see links between them.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult one. The purple group often involves wordplay.
Select four words you think go together and press Submit. If you make a guess and you're incorrect, you'll lose a life. If you're close to having a correct group, you might see a message telling you that you're one word away from getting it right, but you'll still need to figure out which one to swap.
If you make four mistakes, it's game over. Let's make sure that doesn't happen with the help of some hints, and, if you're really struggling, today's Connections answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, it's easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.
If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the publication's Connections archive. This includes every previous game of Connections, so you can go back and play any of those that you have missed.
Aside from the first 60 games or so, you should be able to find my hints via Google if you need them! Just click here and add the date of the game for which you need clues or the answers to the search query.

MOUSSE, SPRAY and WAX seemed like they would go together at first, but as I read all of the words out loud to double check I'd written out the word list properly, I realized that the first of those could be a homonym.
So I tried a group of MOUSSE, BARE, HAIR and BORE as in animal soundalikes -- moose, bear, hare and boar. But nope! Not even close to a group there. I overthought things, as usual.
As it turned out, BORE went with the purples. I thought that group would be blue at most. Seems kind of simple for a purple group. Still, it's fun that EXHAUST and TIRE work together both here and as car parts.
The yellows were up next and I did not grumble about those hair products to myself at all. The blues then made sense to me.
That left the greens, and I was very familiar with those. I didn't eat any vegetables as a kid and nor did I like the sauce that McDonalds used on Big Macs, so as a kid I would always ask for my order to be plain. Bun, patties and cheese, that was it.
My go-to McDonalds order is much healthier these days. Probably because I haven't eaten at McDonalds in years.
That's all there is to it for today's Connections clues and answers. Be sure to check my blog tomorrow for hints and the solution for Tuesday's game if you need them.
P.S. This is my partner's kid's favorite song, so this one is for her. I wager you might have heard this already since it's such a massive hit, but 'Apt.' by Rosé (of Blackpink fame) and Bruno Mars is just such a fantastic pop song. It's very funny to me that Mars went from this to "Fat Juicy & Wet" for his follow-up single:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Call someone you love!

Scarlett Johansson Debuts a Dramatic Curly Bob Haircut for 2025
Scarlett Johansson has tried just about every hairstyle in the beauty handbook, from her blonde Barbie waves to punky pixie cuts circa 2010, but that doesn't take away from her latest transformation, which still had us doing a double-take. Jaws = on the floor. Earlier this week, the 40-year-old actor was spotted alongside Miles Teller on the streets of New York City, filming scenes for their upcoming movie Paper Tiger. The American crime drama, directed by James Gray, is set in the 1980s, and so, for her role, Scarlett has undergone a very retro hair makeover. Her long caramel curls are no more, and instead, she's rocking a bouffant curly bob. For reference, here's a look at her trademark style pre-bob: And below, her current 'do for her new movie role: Paired with the muted tonal outfit and wash of fuchsia makeup, we'd say it's quite the transformation. And one that's reminiscent of Princess Diana. Two iconic Queens, TBH. Now, while we do love an unrecognisable celebrity hair transformation (Nicole Kidman, I'm looking @ you), we must acknowledge that this is, most probably, a wig. After all, actors do have a history of using wigs for various movie roles, so are we all that surprised? (Spoiler: The answer is no, no we're not.) Alas, whether it's a bouffant bob or dramatic pixie, Scarlett has – and will – continue to push the boundaries of style for a role, proving she's a true chameleon in the world of fashion, beauty, and cinema. All in a day's work! Lia Mappoura (she/her) is the Beauty Writer at Cosmopolitan UK. Covering everything from viral celebrity hair and makeup news to the latest trend predictions, she's an expert in recognising the season's next big beauty look (before it ends up all over your social media feeds). ‘MindsEye' Promises Huge Fixes As Its Playercount Flatlines
MindsEye MindsEye is quickly becoming a cautionary tale including lessons like 'talent doesn't mean results' and 'combative execs do harm,' but the game is attempting to salvage its disastrous launch with an announced plan for fixes. On Twitter this morning, MindsEye published a lengthy blog post about its current priorities that mainly revolve around performances and bug fixes. An excerpt: The way the game performs and its litany of bugs are only part of its problems, however, another fundamental one being that the game simply is not good, and there's no patch for that. The last 24 hours has brought situations like streamers cracking up while attempting to deliver a sponsored pitch for the game, or major streamers seeing their #ad deals scrapped by the publisher minutes before they were supposed to play. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder While you may understand why after all the work to build the game, MindsEye devs do not want to give up on it, it feels far too late to salvage. It did not have a strong launch, peaking at just 3,300 concurrent players on Steam, keeping in mind this is a game from a guy who was a lead on the GTA series for years upon years. But after that launch (and a number of refunds), the playercount is already starting to flatline. Literally: MindsEye It lost around 60% of its players by just day two, and looks to be even lower today as the heartbeat slows and likely will stop soon enough here. It's a miss. I've seen games that can forge a path to redemption but this is just not going to be one of them. This isn't Cyberpunk 2077 where a game anticipated for a decade arrives with 10 million sales and early problems kick the studio into high gear to fix everything. This is a game barely anyone played that no one will give a second look at after this week, patches or no. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Ted Danson admits he's 'nauseatingly in love' with wife Mary Steenburgen as couple reunites on screen
Ted Danson and wife Mary Steenburgen are "nauseatingly in love" after nearly 30 years of marriage. During SiriusXM's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" podcast, Danson – who hosts the show with Woody Harrelson – told guest Brett Goldstein that he will be working with his wife, actress Mary Steenburgen, in season two of "Man On The Inside." He also explained that starring alongside each other in the show has made them fall in love again. "Oh, it's just magical. We're falling in love. The story evolves, but I'm just head-over-heels in love with her and to sit there on camera and look into your wife's eyes…. And we're nauseatingly in love in private life and to just disappear into her eyes in front of a camera is pretty astounding," Danson said. Goldstein asked Danson how working alongside his wife has been, and the actor replied, "Oh, it's delicious." Goldstein was full of questions and told Danson, "I am freaked out by the idea of couples who act together. How does it work? And how do you leave your house? You go to work together, in the car? And then what happens? Did you act together before you got together?" Danson explained that he met his wife on the set of a movie, but he learned quickly he had to check his ego "at the door." "I realized part of my job is to host my wife. I was here last year. I am this 'Man on the Inside.' And if she doesn't have a wonderful time, I'm an a--hole. And that's on me. And that's just my attitude," Danson said. Danson and Steenburgen first met in 1983 and married in 1995. They each have two children from previous marriages. In January, Steenburgen admitted that she thought Danson was a bit of a ladies' man before she met him – similar to the character he played on "Cheers" from 1982 to 1993. "I admired him so much as an actor, but I didn't personally know him, and I had this stupid idea that he was, like, maybe kind of a slick guy," she told People at the time. However, she soon realized "how wrong" she was. "Slick guys don't say, 'gosh-a-rooni,' after making love. I'd like to apologize to my granddaughters," she jokingly added. She added that there's a reason Danson is "treasured" by everyone he works with. "He's just so loving and takes such joy in acting that all of us who are hard at work away from our families for long hours get to work on a set that is dictated by his kindness," she said. She continued, "I also fell in love with the sort of father that he is and with his beloved daughters... Ted loves them with all his heart and yet had space in there to love my Lilly and Charlie so perfectly as well. It's pretty thrilling to go through life with Ted Danson." The couple's best quality time is very early in the morning, according to Danson. "The most fun is the early mornings," Danson told People of their 4:30 togetherness time. "Coffee in bed, playing Wordle, Connections, and Spelling Bee, talking and laughing and sharing. To both of us, it's like heaven on Earth." He added, "Even if she's working in a different time zone, we will wake up in time to be able to play our games and have coffee over the phone."
