Soldiers to mark return from duty with parade through Chesterfield
Soldiers from the Royal Lancers are set to march through Chesterfield to celebrate their return from peacekeeping operations 52 soldiers have been on duty in Kosovo, with a further 27 deployed to their freedom of the town - an honour bestowed by the local authority - they will set off from the Crooked Spire at 11:45 BST on Saturday and will head along Burlington Street, Glumangate and Rose Hill to the Town Barry Dyke and Elizabeth Fothergill, Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, will greet the soldiers and take the salute in recognition of their service.
Maj Will Kellard, officer commanding C squadron, said: "Marching through Chesterfield is particularly meaningful for our regiment given our deep connections to the town."Chesterfield is home for many of our soldiers and we're honoured to march through a town whose community has given so much to our ranks over the years."
