Nebraska soccer ties with Missouri State in 1-1 Sunday clash
Nebraska soccer (1-0-1) welcomed Missouri State (0-1-1) to Hibner Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Huskers tied with the Bears 1-1 after falling behind early in the second half. Missouri State put one in the back of the net over 10 minutes into the second half, but Nebraska didn't take long to respond, however. Ella Rudney delivered the equalizer less than seven minutes later. Rudney led the Huskers in shooting, totaling six on the day with four on goal. Nebraska tallied up 20 shots in the tie, with nine on goal. The Bears, meanwhile, fired 10 shots, seven on goal and earned eight saves with Rowann Law playing a complete game for Missouri State at goalkeeper. The Huskers totaled six saves on the day. Cece Villa played a complete game for Nebraska at goalkeeper and came up two saves short of her career high. The Huskers hit the road for the first time this season for their next contest, traveling down to Oklahoma State for a Thursday night bout with the Cowgirls. Nebraska soccer dominates Southern Indiana 6-0 for season-opening win
The Nebraska soccer team opened up the 2025 season at home against Southern Indiana on Thursday night. The Huskers dominated the Screaming Eagles 6-0 for their largest season-opening win since 1996. Nebraska tallied 24 total shots with 11 on goal, while Southern Indiana fired just six shots with four on goal. The Huskers took the lead swiftly, scoring within the first two minutes of the match. After adding another goal in the first, Nebraska erupted in the second half, racking up four more goals to put the match away. Kayma Carpenter led the way, earning two goals, doubling her career total, off four total shots, two on goal. She started both halves for the Huskers' scoring and put the team in position to go on a run. Ella Rudney and Sadie Waite both kicked one goal off four total shots, three on goal in the win. Rudney scored her second career goal in the first half, while Waite scored her eighth career goal in the second half. Freshman Ellie Felt scored her first career goal off her lone shot of the match in the second half as well. Ava Makovicka also scored her first career goal in the win, earning her score off two shots. Redshirt freshman Maddy Osborn started the game at goalkeeper for the Huskers, playing in the first half. She faced one shot in the half and earned the save. Cece Villa took over in the second half, going 3-for-3 in shots face to earn three saves. The Huskers remain home for their next match and welcome Missouri State on Sunday afternoon. The match is set for 1:05 p.m. on B1G+.
