SW Idaho man faces sex trafficking charges. He leads a church, day-care center
A man who runs a Mountain Home child-care center and Christian ministry was arrested last week on sex-crime charges, including trafficking. Law enforcement said they believe there could be more victims and are hoping that people will come forward.
The Elmore County Sheriff's Office exercised a warrant to arrest Gregory Jones on Friday as part of an 'extensive' ongoing investigation that began Jan. 31, according to a news release.
The Sheriff's Office booked him into the Elmore County jail on charges of human sex trafficking and sexual penetration with a foreign object, according to jail records.
Jones is president of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship Church Ministries in Mountain Home, according to the Idaho Secretary of State's website. Jones can be seen leading Christian Fellowship services in Mountain Home on the church's YouTube channel as recently as April 8.
He is also listed as the operations director of NXT Dream Center, a child-care center in Mountain Home that offers day care, preschool and a kindergarten prep academy, according to the center's website.
Neither the church nor NXT Dream Center responded to the Idaho Statesman's request for comment.
Law enforcement determined that 'credible information was obtained from multiple victims' about Jones' alleged crimes, the Sheriff's Office said.
'Several victims have been identified and interviewed by investigators, providing critical evidence that has significantly advanced the case,' the office said in the release. 'The Elmore County Sheriff's Office commends the courage of the victims who have come forward and assisted in this investigation.'
Elmore County Staff Sgt. Garrett Kinnan told the Statesman by phone that he couldn't provide additional details because the investigation is ongoing in terms of seeking other possible victims and witnesses.
The Sheriff's Office asked anyone with additional information to call 208-587-2100.
The Elmore County District Court had not made any documents related to the case public as of Monday afternoon.
