Big cookies, tiny shop: Makies opens at Elsewhere Garden Bar

If any bar in San Antonio were to host an on-site cookie shop, it'd be Elsewhere, the popular whimsical River North hangout that feels plucked from Wonderland. The latest: A charming kiosk called Makies is now open on the property, selling chunky, gooey, New York-style cookies and soft serve. Co-owners María Guerra and Anderson Urquina began selling their cookies as market vendors at Elsewhere last year. They officially opened the tiny shop there in April. The big picture: "We were struck by the energy, fun atmosphere and delicious food and drinks at Elsewhere. However, we noticed there was a lack of sweet treats for people to enjoy during or after a fun time with family and friends," Guerra tells Axios. "Nothing pairs better with a cold drink and good vibes than warm cookies and creamy soft serve. It's the sweet touch we didn't know we were missing," Elsewhere co-owner Terrin Fuhrmann tells Axios. Zoom in: The menu features gooey cookie flavors like red velvet cheesecake, Nutella chocolate chip, s'mores and salted caramel pecan. If you go: Makies is open daily. Hours vary, but you can snag a sweet treat as late as 10pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
