JAC of Telangana govt employees back govt's fight for 42% BC quota bill

Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the govt employees and pensioners, the largest union, has extended complete support to the Congress govt's fight against the Centre for the approval of 42% BC reservation bills. The JAC's support for the BC quota bill assumes significance as it was fighting against the state govt for the Pay Revision Commission (PRC), pending bills, and their other long-pending demands. The JAC leaders, including its president Maram Jagdeeshwar and secretary general Eluri Sreenivasa Rao, along with their delegation, reached New Delhi on Tuesday and participated in a joint media conference by animal husbandry minister Vakiti Srihari held at Telangana Bhavan in the national capital. The JAC leaders said the Telangana BC 42% bill is an example for the country. "We express our support for the government's efforts to get the 42% reservation bill for BCs based on the caste survey. The Central govt should take the initiative to get the President's approval for such a democratic bill. It is natural justice to provide 42% reservation in education, employment, and local bodies to BCs, who constitute 56.33% of Telangana's population, and that the fruits of development will reach all communities through equality of opportunity," Sreenivasa Rao said. The 42% BC Reservation Bill, which was drafted by the Telangana government and approved in the Legislative Assembly by all political parties, is a model for the country. The Centre should appreciate the decision of the state government and immediately work towards getting the President's approval. "It will be a great step forward in the pursuit of social justice," he said. The JAC leaders said they will participate in a dharna at Jantar Mantar on Wednesday. Leaders and members of various BC welfare associations and BC community members will also participate in the dharna and make it a success. Earlier in the day, the state unit of the CPM, led by its secretary John Wesley, held a dharna at Indira Park in Hyderabad demanding that the Centre take all steps for the approval of the quota.

Govt staff JAC defers strike plan after cabinet accepts key demands

Hyderabad: The govt employees joint action committee (JAC) has indefinitely postponed their strike scheduled to be launched from June 9 following the state cabinet's decision to release two DAs and accept some of their main demands such as health cards and transfers. The JAC will meet again by the end of the month after the cabinet decisions are formally documented to decide their future course of action. JAC secretary general Eluri Sreenivasa Rao told TOI that the announcement of two DAs, govt agreeing to clear Rs 700 crore per month in pending bills of employees, constitution of a medical invalidation committee, health cards, a departmental promotion committee for transfers and recognition of employees' unions were some of the main demands of the JAC that have been agreed to by the govt. "As a result, the JAC has decided to indefinitely postpone its strike call. However, the govt did not announce anything about our other main demands such as 51% fitment (Pay Revision Commission) and reverting to the old pension system. There were a total of 57 demands, and the JAC is expecting to meet again with the IAS officers' committee led by Navin Mittal and cabinet sub-committee led by deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka to seek a commitment from the govt on the remaining demands," Sreenivasa Rao said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en San Rafael (ver precio) Verisure Undo Sources in the govt said that although the cabinet discussed the 51% fitment (PRC) demand, it was of the view that more time was needed to announce a consensual fitment, if not 51%, as the govt has decided to clear pending bills of employees every month and has also announced two DAs, both of which are financially intensive demands. "A decision on increasing the retirement age of govt employees was kept pending, anticipating severe backlash from the students and unemployed youth. The govt is of the opinion that no step should be taken at this juncture which may antagonise the youth, who are happy with the incumbent govt giving nearly 60,000 jobs in its first year of office. A decision on the age of superannuation may be taken after panchayat and municipal polls, but only after giving job notifications for at least another 30,000 govt posts," said the source. Regarding the employees' demand for reverting to the old pension system, an election promise of the Congress, sources said the govt may make an announcement about it only in the last year of its present term or a few months before the next assembly elections.
