Guatemalan man sentenced to prison for illegal reentry, found living in Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Guatemalan National was sentenced to prison after he was found living in Pennsylvania, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced.
Elvis Alfonso Lopez-Perez, 32, was found living in Carlisle despite having been previously deported. United States District Judge Keli M. Neary sentenced him to eight months in prison for his illegal reentry into the country.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, Lopez-Perez was removed from the country on Feb. 1, 2013. He then illegally reentered at an unknown time and was found on May 28, 2024, without permission to legally case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
