'I'm a perfume expert - you're making mistake that stops scent lasting all day'
If you've ever wished your perfume would linger all day, this handy tip could be just what you need. A spritz of perfume is often the final flourish to our ensemble, and many of us have that one signature scent we cherish above all others. You may even have invested in a pricier perfume, hoping its longevity will keep you smelling delightful throughout the day. But we're all too familiar with the disappointment when our chosen fragrance fades, sometimes only hours after application. According to a perfume expert, this might be due to common mistakes we make that prevent our scents from enduring. Emelia, a perfume connoisseur, suggests that many of us are overly cautious with our fragrances. We tend to apply just one spray to one wrist, then rub our wrists together to distribute the scent. However, this method isn't sufficient, and your perfume will dissipate quickly. While it's understandable to be wary of overdoing it, especially if you've splurged on an expensive scent and want it to last, Emelia advises using at least three sprays around your body. To begin with, she recommends spraying both wrists - not just one and then rubbing them together. Emelia advises: "You don't have to go overboard, we don't need to douse ourselves, but we can use a little bit more than one spray. For a daily routine, we'll aim for one wrist and leave it - don't rub it. Not because you're damaging the formula, but because we can apply another spray to the other wrist." For the third application, Emelia recommends spraying once under your shirt, on your chest. This area radiates heat, which helps to diffuse the fragrance from your skin, allowing others to notice it. However, Emelia shares an additional, often overlooked spot for perfume application - our hair. She notes that you can purchase a matching hair perfume for your favourite scent, but if not, your main perfume will do, provided you follow some key steps. Spray the perfume into your hand, allowing the alcohol to evaporate, leaving just the fragrant oil. Then, work this oil through the ends of your hair. According to Emelia, this technique prolongs the fragrance's duration, as hair doesn't retain heat like skin, slowing down scent evaporation. Viewers of the video were quick to commend Emelia for her insightful tips, with many labelling the hair trick as a "game-changer" for long-lasting fragrance. One commenter said: "Wait, the spraying in your palm and then rubbing into your hair is so good! " Another added: "You just blew my mind with that hair tip."
