American nabbed for alleged repeated abuse of minor in Pampanga
An American was arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga for the alleged repeated assault of a minor for more than a year, according to a "24 Oras" report by Emil Sumangil on Friday. The Philippine National Police (PNP) had conducted a joint operation in a rental home in Angeles, Pampanga to arrest the suspect, following a rescue operation in which the victim, who is a minor, had been arrested in the same place. 'Kagagamit lang sa [biktima] ng isang foreigner. Nagkasa agad kami ng entrapment or hot pursuit operations against doon sa foreigner,' said Police Lieutenant Colonel Armelina Manalo, chief for the Luzon Field Unit of the PNP Women and Children's Protection Center (WCPC). ([The victim] had just been abused by a foreigner. We immediately conducted entrapment or hot pursuit operations against the foreigner.) 'Based sa revelation niya, mahigit one year na siya inaabuso ng certain foreigner na ito… Last year, 2024, until na ma-rescue namin siya,' Manalo added. (Based on her revelation, she had been abused by this certain foreigner for more than a year… Last year, 2024, until we rescued her.) The suspect declined to provide any comment. Meanwhile, the victim is currently in the custody of the PNP WCPC and undergoing counselling. 'Kasama po ito sa psychosocial needs po ng mga bata, kasi nga po part of it po… Kahit po hindi pa lumalabas ngayon, yung mga triggers, yung mga traumas, probably meron at meron po na tumatatak sa kanila at probably meron pong effects sa kanila,' said social worker Chiara Camille Rivera. (This is included in the childrens' psychosocial needs, because this is part of it… Even if it hasn't come out yet, the triggers and the traumas may probably be there and there would be a lasting impression and effects on them.) The PNP WCPC reminded parents to be aware of their children's online activities to avoid similar instances. 'Sa online, kailangan aware tayo sino mga kausap ng ating mga anak o kahit yung mga nagiging kaibigan, kailangan kilala natin upang magabayan natin sila,' said PNP WCPC chief Police Brigadier General Portia Manalad. (When online, we need to be aware of who our children are talking to or who they are befriending, we need to know who they are so we can guide them appropriately.) — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News

Indian kidnapped, mauled over low-priced jewelry
An Indian national was rescued by San Juan police after allegedly being kidnapped, beaten, and robbed by five armed men who reportedly have links with his business rivals. In Emil Sumangil's "24 Oras" report, police investigations revealed that the victim—who sells synthetic diamonds in a shopping complex in San Juan — had drawn the ire of competitors for selling his goods at very low prices. 'Sinasabi po nila na naapektuhan po yung kanilang negosyo. Gawaan ang biktima po ay nagbebenta ng sobrang baba ng mga synthetic diamonds. Ito po ay nakakapekto ng luha doon sa mga negosyo ng suspect,' said Police Colonel Deodennis Joy Marmol, San Juan Chief of Police. (They said their business was affected because the victim was selling synthetic diamonds at very low prices. This hurt the suspects' own businesses.) Colonel Marmol explained that the suspects allegedly hired goons to confront the victim. 'Sinakay po siya sa kotse. Nung nasa loob po siya ng kotse, sinaktan po siya at pinagbantaan po na "huwag ka nang babalik ng Pilipinas." Bukod po doon, kinuha po yung kanyang mga personal na gamit consisting po ng one million worth of synthetic diamonds na binibenta niya,' Marmol added. (They forced him into a car. Inside, he was beaten and warned never to return to the Philippines. They also took his belongings, including around one million pesos' worth of synthetic diamonds.) After being released, the victim immediately reported the incident to police, prompting an operation to track down the suspects. 'Naresolba po natin ito sa pamamagitan po ng record check po noong sasakyan na ginamit at saka po sa pag-backtrack po ng mga CCTV footage,' he added. (We resolved the case through a records check on the vehicle used and by backtracking CCTV footage.) Authorities have yet to release the identities of the suspects, who are currently under investigation. They have remained silent on the allegations. Despite the ordeal, the victim expressed gratitude for his rescue. 'Right now I'm feeling so much safe,' the victim said. Police assured the public that operations continue to ensure the safety of foreign nationals and to protect fair business practices in the city. — Sherylin Untalan/BAP, GMA Integrated News
