Lily accessorised her look with a pair of frameless black-tinted sunglasses as she watched Carlos Alcaraz go head-to-head with Jannik Skinner at Roland Garros. For the outing, Lily showed off her classy sense of style as she styled her shiny raven tresses into a sleek straightened bob. Lily appeared to be in top spirits for the outing as she was cheering and clapping alongside her husband Charlie McDowell. Beth: Channel 4's first ‘digital drama' is so snoozy that no young people will watch it
In 1964, Andy Warhol shot the Empire State Building then turned it into an art film called Empire, which is more than eight hours long. I was reminded of this last Christmas when I let my nine-year-old niece choose what to watch on TV. She went straight to the YouTube app and pressed play on a video comparing US and UK chocolate bars. It went into such a tremendous amount of detail that I was mesmerised, not by the content but by how brazenly boring it was. It went on for what felt like hours. It might still be going on now. I wonder if this is what television natives get wrong about YouTube. In all the discussions about disappearing attention spans and 'second screen' viewing – ie scrolling on your phone while leaving a single brain cell free to drool at whatever product placement Emily in Paris has just dropped into the 'plot' – there is an assumption that online content has to be short and snappy. That might be more true of TikTok or Reels, but YouTube is a place that chews up time then swallows it. Do I know this because I have watched lengthy self-produced documentaries about complete strangers' walking holidays? Look, in the 60s, it would have been art. This is what Beth, Channel 4's 'digital original drama', is trying to contend with. TV has long been worried about the internet coming for its audience, and it's true that you are about as likely to get a young person watching live terrestrial TV as you are to get them to pick up the phone and have a conversation with you. How can old-fashioned television begin to compete? Should it even bother trying? Channel 4 is giving it a go. It has already made Hollyoaks a 'streaming-first' soap, sticking episodes online a day before they appear on E4. Now it is trying a new approach with drama. Beth will appear on YouTube in three 15-minute chunks from Monday 9 June, and on the actual telly as a single 45-minute episode, making it the skorts of the screen: why be one thing when you can be two? Beth is about a glamorous couple called Joe and Molly, played by Nicholas Pinnock and Abbey Lee, who are going through IVF treatment. We see the buildup to a much desired pregnancy, skip forward to the birth, then jump to a few years later, for reasons that would definitely spoil it if they were to be revealed here. This is a family drama. There are brief fantasy sequences, of the children the couple might have, and discussions about what it means for Joe, a Black man, and Molly, a white woman, to have a child who resembles them both. It is also a low-key thriller. There are tensions between the couple, both obvious and implied. Their IVF doctor is overfamiliar and too tactile. Molly's mother is disproportionately rattled by a child's simple drawing. To add to the genre pile-on, Beth is being billed as science fiction, but knowing this doesn't do it any favours, because without that knowledge, it looks like a straightforward, if slightly stagey, drama for almost the entire duration. If you do know that it is science fiction, you're left to constantly anticipate exactly when the science fiction will kick in. For me, that undermines the more weighty emotional scenes, because as Joe and Molly endure both hope and devastation, a nagging voice in my head is wondering if they are going to turn out to be aliens. It's good that it doesn't patronise viewers by assuming they won't have more than five seconds of focus to spare. In fact, it's so far from giddy that it is almost sedate. Nor does it go for the endless stretch that can afflict online content, where the time restrictions of traditional TV mean nothing, and you watch a man chew a Curly Wurly for what seems like many days. But that does mean that, ultimately, Beth feels like a one-off television drama, albeit one with an eyebrow-raising pivot towards the end. I can't see what makes it so specifically digital. If one of the existential issues facing TV is how to get young people to pay attention to it, then a meditative drama about IVF, identity and parenthood isn't necessarily going to solve the problem. But if the idea is to win back some of the older eyeballs who have been distracted by, let's say (just plucking this out of thin air) an in-depth documentary about a niche ultramarathon, then it might be on to something.

Five ways to turn your kitchen leftovers into a tasty cocktail

Save your peels in a tub and keep them in the fridge to use as garnishes for cocktails. For added flare, gently use a lighter on a peeling and twist it — this should stay in place and it's what top mixologists use to top fancy cocktails. Carrot or beetroot peels also make vibrantly coloured syrups which are great for adding to cocktails. BERRY NICE: Use up the last of those blueberries, raspberries and blackberries to make a fruity syrup you can use in spritzes or to flavour sparkling water. The Emily in Paris cocktail Add berries to a pan of water with a few teaspoons of sugar. Simmer for five minutes and leave to cool before pouring into a jar to use for your next cocktails. Stranger Things Season 5 Release Strategy Released By Netflix And... Hmmm...
If you've ever been hooked on a tentpole Netflix series, the chances are you're already familiar with the concept of the platform's split seasons. For the past few years, the streaming giant has been releasing hit shows like Bridgerton, Emily In Paris and You in two batches one month apart, in an apparent bid to hold onto subscribers for longer. But for the upcoming Stranger Things finale, they're taking this one step further. The fifth and final season of the award-winning sci-fi series has been a long time coming, and on Sunday, Netflix finally revealed when fans will be able to watch the last instalments. 'Volume one' of season five will debut on Wednesday 26 November, with the second batch coming just under a month later, on Christmas Day. But that's not all – the actual finale isn't due to arrive until a week after that, premiering on New Year's Eve at 5pm Pacific time (which will be just as the clock strikes midnight at the arrival of 2026 here in the UK). Lily Collins strolls hand-in-hand with on-screen lover Eugenio Franceschini in Rome as they film romantic scene for Emily In Paris series five
Filming for Emily In Paris series five kicked off in Rome earlier this month. And Lily Collins, 36, who plays marketing executive Emily Cooper, was spotted filming a romantic scene with her current on-screen love interest, Eugenio Franceschini, 33, on Friday. The pair were pictured holding hands as they strolled through the Aventine neighbourhood, before stopping at one of Rome's most romantic spots - the famed 'keyhole'. For the scene, Lily looked effortlessly chic in a blue-and-white polka dot co-ord. Her ensemble featured a short-sleeve button-up shirt and matching Capri pants with ruffled cape detailing. During filming, the pair were seen peering through the keyhole for a glimpse of the dome of Saint Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, perfectly framed by the surrounding hedges. Meanwhile, Eugenio, who plays Emily's new love interest Marcello, cut a casual figure in a green short-sleeve shirt that showed off his toned arms. He paired it with rust-orange trousers and brown leather Chelsea boots as he gazed adoringly at his co-star, strolling hand-in-hand. The upcoming series will see Emily juggle her potential new life in Rome and her past life in Paris. Emily was left with a decision at the end of series four, as she was offered the position of the lead of the Italian Agence Grateau office. Despite falling in love with Paris and the agency, Emily admitted she was tempted by a new life - with a new man - in Rome. Fans will remember Emily and Gabriel's (Lucas Bravo) romance fell apart after they finally tried to make a go of their relationship after he broke off his relationship with Camille. Following a fake pregnancy scandal, Camille revealed she wasn't actually expecting and Emily and Gabriel tried to work out a romantic future. However, it wasn't meant to be for the star-crossed lovers who were unable to work out their differences and she was pushed into the arms of Marcello, after they met on the slopes of Megève, when she was abandoned at the top of a slope by Gabriel. They crossed paths again at a polo match in Paris and they enjoyed a night out together in the city, which lasted until the following morning when he asked her to come and visit him in Rome. Emily followed her heart and travelled to meet Marcello, where she was also tasked with acquiring his family's business by her boss Sylvie. However, Emily was reluctant to mix business with pleasure. Emily and Marcello hit a stumbling block when he learned of her plans to try and secure a professional relationship with his family, who owned a luxury cashmere company, but they eventually managed to iron their issues out. At this point, Gabriel had a candid conversation with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who urged him to try and win Emily back, despite previously being romantically involved with her himself. But despite dashing to Rome with the hope of reuniting, Emily was nowhere to be seen as she enjoyed her romantic day out with Marcello. Speaking about the upcoming series, Lucas said: 'I think Gabriel realized that he doesn't want to let Emily go so easily, and he might have made a big mistake. During filming, the pair were seen peering through the keyhole for a glimpse of the dome of Saint Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, perfectly framed by the surrounding hedges 'They certainly had a big fight and a cooling-off period. But I think he realized that by the end of the season, that there's something that he doesn't want to let Emily go. 'I don't know what that means. However, there is hope for the couple as according to creator Darren Star, the season is not fully moving to Rome. He told Deadline: 'She didn't change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie's company has an office in Rome. 'Emily's getting that on its feet. I don't necessarily think that it means a permanent — in my mind, it's definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We're not leaving Paris.' The series is expected to air towards the end of this year, but one of the main characters has revealed they won't be returning. Camille Razat, 31, who plays Camille in the romantic comedy-drama - took to Instagram to reveal the shocking news with an emotional goodbye post after fans fumed at bosses for 'destroying the character'. Camille has played Emily's pal and love rival in the show since the programme hit the streaming service back in 2020. Now, after five years on our screens as Camille, the actress is ready to move on. Sharing various snaps from her time on the show, she wrote: 'After an incredible journey, I've made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris. 'It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories. 'I'm deeply grateful to @starmandarren and the entire team at @netflix and @paramountpics for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world. 'This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons. 'I've recently wrapped two series: Nero for Netflix and the Lost Station Girls for Disney+. I'm also excited to share that I've launched my own production company, @tazar_production. 'We mainly produce music videos and short films for now, but we're currently developing our first feature film, something I'm truly passionate about and excited to grow.
