Five ways to turn your kitchen leftovers into a tasty cocktail
THINKING of throwing away the last of your weekly shop?
Think again, because with a little creativity, your kitchen leftovers could become your next favourite cocktail.
Here's some ideas . . .
EGG 'N' SIPS: Leftover egg whites are a great addition to cocktails.
Whisk them up and try them as a topping to gin fizz or sours for a velvet texture.
Aquafaba (chickpea water) also works just as well.
GIN WIN: If you have a few peaches or plums that are too ripe, give them a new life by infusing them in alcohol which takes on subtle flavours easily.
Cut up the fruit and add to a jar with your spirit, such as gin or vodka, for a hint of sweetness in your next drink.
A-PEELING DRINK: Apple peels and pear cores need not be wasted.
Save your peels in a tub and keep them in the fridge to use as garnishes for cocktails.
For added flare, gently use a lighter on a peeling and twist it — this should stay in place and it's what top mixologists use to top fancy cocktails.
Carrot or beetroot peels also make vibrantly coloured syrups which are great for adding to cocktails.
BERRY NICE: Use up the last of those blueberries, raspberries and blackberries to make a fruity syrup you can use in spritzes or to flavour sparkling water.
The Emily in Paris cocktail
Add berries to a pan of water with a few teaspoons of sugar.
Simmer for five minutes and leave to cool before pouring into a jar to use for your next cocktails.
CUP OF JOY: Used coffee grounds have so many uses but did you know you can infuse spirits or make coffee liqueur with them?
Put the coffee in a jar and add around four tablespoons of sugar and a cinnamon stick, a vanilla bean pod or dash of vanilla essence.
Leave overnight and add boiling water to the jar, strain the mixture through coffee filter paper and add a double shot of rum.
Leave to cool and then store in the fridge. It's perfect for espresso martinis.

Fans spot interesting detail in photo of Miranda Kerr and her husband Evan Spiegel as they celebrate his birthday
Miranda Kerr shared a gushing tribute to her husband Evan Spiegel this week as the Snapchat billionaire founder celebrated his 35th birthday. The model, 42, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a loved-up photo of the pair enjoying a romantic gondola ride in Venice. The image showed the couple cuddling up close and beaming broadly as they took in the sights of the historic Italian city. Rugged up against the chill, Miranda wore a chic navy blue overcoat with brass buttons while Evan braved the cold in a black puffy jacket. Captioning the romantic photo, Miranda paid tribute to her husband of eight years. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Happy birthday to my love! You are the most incredible partner and I'm inspired by you every day,' Miranda wrote. 'I'm so grateful for you and our beautiful family. Here's to many more adventures together.' The post was met with a flurry of comments from fans, with one eagle-eyed follower pointing out a surprising detail about the photo. One fan commented that the couple bore a rather striking resemblance when it came to the colour of their hair. 'I love how their hair colours are matching,' they wrote. Others were quick to comment on the couple's palpable affection for each other, which was more than evident in the photo. 'Superstars with hearts of gold,' one follower wrote. 'Beautiful and inspiring couple,' a third swooned, while another summed up the sentiment of many with a simple 'beautiful couple'. Miranda recently revealed the secret behind their successful marriage. Speaking to Stellar magazine back in March, Miranda said that she and Evan 'balance and learn' from each other. 'I learn from him and he learns from me. We really do balance each other. We've been together [for] 11 years and he's my favourite person,' she said. She went on to say the couple 'prioritise each other and family time' and this has been very important in their relationship. 'He's such a family man. We prioritise each other and family time,' Miranda continued. 'That's why when you see us on the red carpet, everyone was like, "Wow, Miranda, you're out?" Honestly, Evan and I prefer to stay in. But every now and then, Mum and Dad have to get out, too.' Miranda and Evan tied the knot in 2017 in an intimate wedding - with just 45 friends and family in attendance. They share three sons together - Hart, six, Myles, five, and Pierre, nine months. Miranda also has a 13-year-old son, Flynn, from her previous marriage to Orlando Bloom. She is close to Orlando and his fiancée Katy Perry and described their relationship dynamic as a 'big, blended family '. 'We have so much love and respect for each other. I'm so grateful for the relationship I have with Orlando and Katy,' she said. 'We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. We have a child together. So let's be as kind as we can to each other.' Miranda rose to fame at the age of 13 after winning Dolly Magazine's modelling competition. She then went on to become Australia's first Victoria's Secret Angel in 2007.

Footy Show star Beau Ryan reveals the rogue segment producers BANNED after he got tied up in a German sex club
Former NRL star turned TV presenter Beau Ryan has revealed why producers at the Footy Show once previously refused to air a segment that featured him being tied up by a dominatrix at a sex club in Germany. Ryan, 40, was in Berlin a decade ago for the Channel Nine show when he entered the risqué establishment with a film crew. Speaking on Triple M Breakfast with Beau and Woodsy on Thursday, Ryan set the scene when the panel recalled colourful work trips. 'It was 10 years ago and we had an idea,' he said. 'We saw (US talk show host) Conan O'Brien had gone to a bondage den, so we went in there and it was like the movie Taken. 'A woman comes out dressed like Catwoman, and before I knew it, I was down to my Speedos. 'My safe word was Gallen [after Cronulla NRL great Paul Gallen] but then another woman took me into the room and she didn't speak any English, so there was a language barrier.' What followed next was utter chaos. Ryan found himself whipped, spanked and hit with electric shocks - all while blindfolded. What felt like an hour to him only took 15 minutes - and Ryan had multiple welts on his body to prove it. 'Once we got back to Sydney, an EP (executive producer) from the Footy Show called me in for a chat,' Ryan continued. 'After watching the footage, they apologised for what happened over there and then said we can't air that. 'So I was left with all these welts and scars and I found out years later the guys at Channel Nine had to delete all the footage.' Ryan retired from the NRL in 2014 due to an ongoing neck injury. Next was a foray into television, starting on The Footy Show, before stints - mainly via Channel 10 - on The Amazing Race Australia, I'm a Me Out of Here, Top Gear Australia and a remake of Gladiators. Ryan also features on Triple M Breakfast each weekday with fellow footy identity Aaron Woods plus new host Cat Lynch.

In movie two, we get to see the consequences of those choices. The temperature is up."
