SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The Judges of the Shreveport City Court and ShreveportCity Marshal announced a special 'Amnesty Day'. This day will provides individuals with outstanding warrants the chance to resolve their issues and receive new court dates without being arrested. More Shreveport News On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the Amnesty Day event will allow eligible individuals with warrants issued by the Shreveport City Court to have those warrants recalled. Once a warrant is recalled, any bond set will be temporarily suspended. After promising to return, the individual will be allowed to leave and will receive a new court date and be notified before leaving the courthouse. Judge Emily Merckle shares that she is aware of the hurdles some may face in taking care of unresolved issues. 'We understand that sometimes circumstances prevent individuals from addressing theircourt matters in a timely fashion, Amnesty Day is a proactive effort by the Shreveport City Court to help people take a positive step towards resolving their cases.' When: Saturday, June 21, 2025, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Where: Shreveport City Court, 1244 Texas Ave, Shreveport, LA Eligibility: The Shreveport City Marshal may recall active warrants on unadjudicatedFailure to Appear warrants and Execution of Sentence warrants. Exclusions: This amnesty does not apply to warrants issued for the charges ofDomestic Abuse Battery, Battery of a Dating Partner, DWIs, and Probation warrants. This event provides amnesty from the immediate execution of the eligible warrant and an opportunity for a new court date. It does not grant amnesty from prosecution for any underlying offense, nor does it waive any fines, fees, costs, or restitution owed, which will be addressed at the new court date. Judge Merckle hopes that residents will embrace the chance to resolve their warrants. 'We encourage anyone with an eligible outstanding warrant to take advantage of this opportunity to clear their name and receive a new court date without the immediate fear of arrest on that warrant.'
