Emirates Red Crescent to broaden projects, services in ‘new stage of expansion'

On World Humanitarian Day, the ERC reaffirms its commitment to expanding its relief and philanthropic initiatives, further widening its reach across the globe. In a statement issued to Aletihad , Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the ERC, revealed that the organisation is about to 'enter a new stage of expansion,' with plans to broaden the scope of its projects and services. 'We are getting ready to expand the scope of our activities in the areas of social empowerment and development. According to UN reports, 44% of the total international assistance delivered to the enclave came from the UAE. The UAE has also made significant investments in long-term development, resilience building, and social empowerment programmes in a number of nations, in addition to providing emergency relief to those hit by disasters.

Through its partnerships with organisations around the world, it has remained present on the ground — making a difference in the most vulnerable communities and delivering aid where it is needed the most, the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) said in a statement to Aletihad. In observance of World Humanitarian Day, the ERC highlights how the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, continues to inspire the nation and its people — making it 'one of the largest donors to humanitarian work worldwide'.'The Emirates Red Crescent Authority follows the same approach charted by the champion of humanity, the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to sustain giving and provide assistance to those in need everywhere, regardless of gender, race, or religion,' the authority said. In extending a helping hand, everyone is equal in the eyes of the UAE and its wise leadership, it added. 'Our national authority works everywhere to alleviate the suffering of humanity through the assistance it provides and through the volunteers who work in crisis and emergency situations,' it said. By teaming up with global organisations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations, the UAE is able to swiftly deliver aid to the vulnerable — keeping its boots on the ground in areas of crises and disasters, the ERC emergency relief, the ERC ensures the lasting impact of its humanitarian efforts. Humanitarian journey continues as Sheikh Zayed's legacy inspires Emirati community: ERC

True to the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (ERC) has been creating hope and touching millions of lives around the world. Until March 2025, more than 393 million people in 153 countries have benefitted from the authority's humanitarian and development projects, according to the Emirates Red Crescent's Development and International Cooperation Sector Achievements Report."The UAE offers all forms of support to people on all fronts, without any discrimination based on religion, race, or culture, confirming to all communities that the humanity of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, will remain deeply rooted among all people across the continents of the world," said Dr. Mohammed Salem Al Junaibi, Director of the Emirates Red Crescent Centre in ERC attributes much of its humanitarian initiatives' success to its volunteers."The Emirates Red Crescent Authority is proud of the efforts of volunteers and their effective role in enhancing programmes and initiatives," said Shimaa Atef, Senior Web Editor at the ERC."Over the past years , volunteers have represented the authority's soft humanitarian power. He added that the campaign aims to expand the scope of humanitarian assistance to reach the largest possible number of beneficiaries.
