A mother-of-one drowned in the sea on during a holiday in Corfu, Greece, despite her husband's desperate attempt to rescue her, an inquest heard. Emma Slack, 54, went for a dip in the ocean on July 9 before being caught in 'intense wave activity'. Her husband Rob frantically tried to save her but got into difficultly himself on the resort of Roda. They had travelled 1,700 miles from Mold, Flinshire, for the holiday before the tragedy hit, the inquest heard. A medical cause of death for training adviser Mrs Slack was given as drowning. Senior coroner John Gittins said official documentation from Greek authorities referred to 'intense wave activity.' After her death, Mrs Slack was described as an 'adored wife, devoted mum and treasured and much loved daughter.' Tributes poured in online to the 'beautiful inside and out' mother who was 'one of the most kind souls.' One friend said: 'Devastated. Rest in peace beautiful friend. I will miss you terribly.' Another wrote: 'Beautiful person inside and out. Truly, such a gentle sole.' 'We will miss you Emma. Such a kind, beautiful lady,' a third friend said. The inquest in North Wales was adjourned to a later date.
