Wolves 'not quite moved away from the gloom'

The chill is back. Wolves fans had been able to enjoy three days after their fun in the sun at Bournemouth. Four encouraging performances in a row led to a fine away win, and with the chance to play their midweek game before their direct rivals Ipswich and Leicester, it felt like Wolves were at last moving out of the quite. "I don't know if we sleep in the dressing room when I come inside the pitch," said Vitor Pereira, "and without the focus of the concentration that we should… we cannot concede these types of goals." First-minute goals, immediately disrupting a team's plans, are annoying, but happen sometimes. At the start of each half in the same game, however, was score and statistics say Wolves kept this game close, yet there was no doubt who had played with more class. Things that worked at Bournemouth, where Wolves had looked the more dangerous team even before the home side lost a man, did offered a reason that echoed with the recent past. "Playing after three days, I didn't feel the team in [was] the top condition. We faced a team that replaced five players… this is a big difference."He had selected the same starters as at Bournemouth, meaning the team were again without their new senior defender Emmanuel Agbadou, and a specialist centre-forward. Marshall Munetsi filled in gamely again, but to relatively little effect. By contrast, Fulham – a club we might have considered to have roughly equal prospects as Wolves at the start of the season – could bring in Rodrigo Muniz and Andreas Pereira, fresh and sharp, and they dictated the terms of the Strand Larsen, still overcoming injury, was given the second half at Bournemouth but only half an hour on Wednesday. "It's the only striker that we have in this moment," Pereira said. "Imagine that in the second half we need to score, and this is the time [I have] to take him out, and I don't have a striker to replace. In this moment, we don't have."Cold rain returned to Wolverhampton this morning. The general feeling is that Wolves should still have enough in hand to hold off Ipswich and Leicester, and spring will surely come. 'A good transfer window - but far from perfect'

At the start of January, Wolves had clear objectives; strengthen a struggling defence, add steel to the midfield and possibly improve depth up address these needs, Wolves invested approximately £42m during the transfer window, recouping £3m from sales. This made them the second-highest spenders in January, behind only Manchester City, demonstrating a clear commitment to Premier League the early highlights was the arrival of Emmanuel Agbadou. The defender has impressed in his initial appearances, showing both athleticism and composure on the ball. His performances suggest that Wolves may have secured a key defensive asset capable of meeting Premier League late arrivals of Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi bolstered the squad, but both transfers had the hallmarks of last-minute contingency plans. Missed opportunities earlier in the window and delays in negotiations allowed rival clubs to hijack deals for primary targets, reinforcing Wolves' reputation for sluggish transfer said, both Djiga and Munetsi appear promising. While they will need time to adapt to the Premier League, they possess attributes sought by manager Vitor Pereira and could become valuable a long-term contract for Matheus Cunha was significant, providing financial security for the club. However, prolonged negotiations caused unnecessary speculation and off-field distractions. Acting sooner could have avoided this. While the deal does not guarantee Cunha's stay beyond the summer, it positions Wolves better financially for any future transfer.#One area of concern remains Nelson Semedo's contract. As a pivotal player and club captain, tying him down to an extended deal would have provided stability and signalled long-term intent. Securing his future should remain a priority for Wolves moving ahead, it is hoped the new arrivals can adapt quickly and contribute to Wolves' survival. While this window can be considered a good one, it was far from perfect. Transfer success, like their Premier League fate, will ultimately be judged over time. Despite some shortcomings, I remain cautiously optimistic about Wolves' chances of staying up this more from Dazzling Dave at Always Wolves, external

Wolves 0-1 Arsenal - the fans' verdict

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Wolves and are some of your comments:Wolves fansPaul: Still the same issues as we've had for many seasons. Too easy to score against and we aren't clinical enough when it matters. We had enough chances in the last three games against Arsenal, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest but we lost all of them. I thought we looked far more compact against Arsenal Played a decent game but desperately need more quality to compete at this level. No creativity in midfield and not enough movement up top. Defended reasonably well - thought Emmanuel Agbadou was excellent. Owners were present and, like the fans, I hope that they can acknowledge that investment is needed - now!Mike: Some really encouraging signs today. Very competitive in midfield, particularly in the first half. That's more than can be said for the two strikers. Superb display and really commanding performance by Agbadou. Another centre-back with his physical presence would be money well spent. Our subs don't have any real impact apart from Rodrigo Gomes and he looks like our new Neto. Our goalkeeper is still a big issue whoever wears the shirt. However, the support was a big plus, and we're going to need that now until the end of the Poor showing with relegation written all over it. As normal, there is no backing from the board - two thirds of the way through the window and one first-team signing just isn't good fansDave: Excellent game management from Arsenal and a very good three points. Some very good performances there and the team should be proud. Riccardo Calafiori scored an excellent goal and did very well on the left. It was nice to see Ethan Nwaneri start - shame he came off at half time although it was understandable. Declan Rice was excellent everywhere. Gabriel and William Saliba were brilliant in defence, and Thomas Partey was solid in midfield. I feel sorry for Myles Lewis-Skelly but he'll bounce back in his next Not a vintage Arsenal performance. Would've been 3-2 on a different day and if both teams were more clinical. I think both sendings off were fair. Rice seems to be going forward a little more often which is great to Surely nobody in football can say that Lewis-Skelley's tackle deserved a red for serious foul play? Barely a yellow. And no word of the Wolves player's second yellow which was a more serious one but only got a second yellow. Peter: Arsenal were once known as lucky Arsenal. Even though they won this one, they don't seem to be having much luck any more. Jurrien Timber was man of the match.
