Tottenham complete permanent signing of Mathys Tel on six-year deal

The 20-year-old forward spent the second half of last season on loan from the Bundesliga champions and scored three goals in 20 appearances. The loan included an option for Spurs to make the deal permanent for £45.8million, however the PA news agency understands the club successfully negotiated the fee down to £29.8m. We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a contract that will run until 2031 ✍️ — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) June 15, 2025 Having moved to Bayern from Rennes in 2022 he initially enjoyed a significant role, playing 69 times during his first two seasons before falling out of favour when Vincent Kompany was appointed a year ago. He made only eight league appearances during the first half of last season before being loaned to Spurs – whom he initially turned down before an abrupt change of heart late in the January transfer window. The club finished 17th in the Premier League, their lowest-ever finish, but qualified for the Champions League courtesy of their 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final. Tel, who was an unused substitute in the final in Bilbao, is currently representing France at the under-21 European Championships in Slovakia alongside team-mate Wilson Odobert, and scored his team's opening goal of the tournament, a penalty in Saturday's 3-2 win over Georgia. Bayern's director of football Max Eberl said: 'Mathys Tel came to FC Bayern as a very young player and took his first steps into top-level international football here. 'He was a popular figure in our team, always giving his all for the club and the team. It has become clear that the move to Tottenham was the right one for his development.'

Transfer news live: Arsenal's Gyokeres bid, Robertson to leave Liverpool and Man United continue Mbeumo chase

The transfer window is about to re-open after shutting following its mini-opening ahead of the summer's Club World Cup. The window will officially re-open on Monday (16 June) and clubs are continuing to make deals in the interim. Liverpool are making plans for a Florian Wirtz medical after agreeing a record £116.5m deal for the German superstar. The Premier League champions, who have already brought in Jeremie Frimpong, will make Wirtz their club-record signing after agreeing a deal with Bayer Leverkusen. However, they may well lose left-back stalwart Andy Robertson, with Atletico Madrid circling. Manchester United, who have secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m, are negotiating with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, who would prefer a move to Old Trafford over Tottenham Hotspur even as Thomas Frank takes charges in north London – though Spurs want Mbeumo and teammate Yoane Wissa. Arsenal hope to bring in Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Arteta has made RB Leipzig striker, Benjamin Sesko, their No 1 target for a striker. However, the Gunners have reportedly submitted an offer for another dorward option – Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres. Chelsea, meanwhile, have been rebuffed in their efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens. The duo were excellent this season for Brentford under manager Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou at Spurs this week. Frank wants to bring the duo, but Brentford will be reluctant to sell both of their star attackers in the same summer. The Gunners have reportedly submitted a first concrete offer of £46.8m with up to £8.5m in add-ons for the 27-year-old Swede. He has also been linked with a move to Man United but Arsenal may prove the more attractive destination – that is, if they don't end up signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Luke Baker15 June 2025 10:40 Inside Liverpool's record Florian Wirtz deal – and how they can afford it German superstar Florian Wirtz is set to join Liverpool in a deal that could see him become the most expensive player ever signed by a Premier League club. The 22-year-old, who has become one of the most coveted players in world football during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, was a target for Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, though Arne Slot's side quickly moved to the front of the race for his signature. Leverkusen had wanted €150m, or £126m, and previously rejected two bids from the Premier League champions. But Liverpool have agreed to sign Wirtz for an initial £100m, potentially rising to £116m, making him their club-record signing. But why has the German picked Liverpool as his next club, and when will the deal be finalised? Liverpool star to agree transfer reunion after two arrivals in huge shake-up

Liverpool's goalkeeping department is undergoing huge change this summer, and Czech stopper Vitezslav Jaros is on the verge of becoming the second first-team keeper to depart Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros will team up with former Reds assistant coach John Heitinga at Ajax with a loan move close to being agreed for the 23-year-old. Czech goalkeeper Jaros served as third-choice stopper for the Reds in the past season, making two appearances for the first-team. ‌ Last October he came on for the final 11 minutes of the 1-0 Premier League victory at Crystal Palace following an injury to Alisson Becker, with Caoimhin Kelleher absent at Selhurst Park through illness. He followed that up by playing the full 90 minutes as the Reds beat Brighton 3-2 in the Carabao Cup later that same month. ‌ Heitinga has now identified Jaros as the perfect addition to his goalkeeping ranks after joining Ajax as the new head coach, and he'll be eyeing the No.1 spot after 41-year-old veteran Remko Pasveer played 43 times in the past season in all competitions. The loan will be Jaros' fifth away from Liverpool, but the first since he has tasted first-team football for the Reds. He has previously had temporary stints at St Patrick's Athletic in Ireland, Football League pair Notts County and Stockport County and Austrian side Sturm Graz, where he won a league and cup double. Jaros is expected to sign a new long-term contract at Anfield prior to making the move to Amsterdam, with his switch coming at a time of huge change in the goalkeeping ranks at Anfield. With Kelleher having joined Brentford in an £18m deal this summer, Georgia international Giorgi Mamardashvili will link up with the Reds a year after agreeing his move from Valencia. Mamardashvili is primed to serve as Alisson's deputy in the coming season, with the No.3 role perhaps taken by new arrival Armin Pecsi, with the 20-year-old having completed a £1.5m move from Hungarian side Puskas Akademia last week. ‌ There are high hopes for the Hungary under-21 international, with his compatriot and new Reds team-mate Dominik Szoboszlai revealing his role in the move. Speaking to Hungarian outlet Nemzeti Sport about his message to Pecsi, Szoboszlai said: 'I say, come there and enjoy it! 'Work hard every day, I think you know exactly what your goal is, you're determined enough; otherwise, you wouldn't have gotten to the club. Hard work will pay off in time.'
