Denbighshire businesses offered free broadband advice

Councillor Emrys Wynne, lead member for Welsh language, culture and heritage, said: "Digital connectivity is essential for business growth and sustainability. "Through this service, we're making sure Denbighshire businesses aren't left behind and have access to the support they need to thrive in the digital age. "We understand the pressures local businesses face, and this service is one way we're helping to remove barriers and create opportunities for growth." The fully funded service, supported by the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund, is available at no cost to all businesses in Denbighshire. A dedicated digital officer will provide tailored advice, investigate issues, engage with providers such as Openreach, and deliver detailed reports on existing connections and potential solutions. The scheme comes as Openreach continues its fibre network expansion across the region. It also aims to help businesses navigate the many government schemes currently available for improving digital infrastructure. Businesses can contact digital officer Philip Burrows for support at

New sensory experience at Denbighshire historic house

From 2025, visitors to the historic house will be able to experience the sights, sounds, and now, smells of the timber-framed townhouse. The house has introduced immersive aromas in each of its period rooms, adding to the period costumes, soundscapes, and activities introduced last year. These scents, crafted by AromaPrime, creators of speciality aromas for museums and tourist attractions, aim to transport visitors through the centuries. Visitors can expect to encounter the rich, smoky aroma of tallow candles in the medieval room, fruit punch in the parlour, biscuits in the Edwardian room, and delicate roses in the Georgian bedroom. Councillor Emrys Wynne, lead member for Welsh language, culture and heritage, said: "The use of scent in museum and heritage settings is nothing new, but what has increased is our understanding of how the sense of smell is the one most linked to emotion and memory. "Imagine using your sense of smell to relive the past. "I urge everyone to come and see (and smell!) what it's all about." Each room now tells its story not just through its sights and sounds, but also through smell. Visitors are invited to experience the story of Nantclwyd y Dre in this new way from Thursday to Saturday, 10.30am to 4.30pm (last entry at 3.30pm), until September 30, 2025. For opening times and ticket prices, please visit the Nantclwyd y Dre website.

North Wales Tourist Attraction Introduces Historic Aromas to Take Visitors Back in Time

Visitors to a historic North Wales house will be able to experience not just its sights and sounds but also smells designed to take them back in time. Period costumes, soundscapes, and activities were introduced to Nantclwyd y Dre in Denbighshire last year. Now the historic house and gardens has introduced immersive aromas in each of its period rooms, bringing more than 500 years of history to life in a new way. Crafted by AromaPrime, creators of speciality aromas for museums and tourist attractions, the scents offer a new way to experience the past, transporting visitors through the centuries as they encounter the rich smoky aroma of tallow candles in the medieval room, fruit punch in the Parlour, biscuits in the Edwardian room and delicate roses in the Georgian bedroom. The sensory addition is designed to offer visitors a deeper connection to the daily life of the families who have lived there throughout the ages; from fresh bread in the kitchen to the nostalgic scent of an open coal fire. Councillor Emrys Wynne, Denbighshire County Council's Lead Member for Welsh Language, Culture and Heritage, said: 'The use of scent in museum and heritage setting is nothing new, but what has increased is our understanding of how the sense of smell is the one most linked to emotion and memory. 'Imagine using your sense of smell to relive the past. I urge everyone to come and see (and smell!) what it's all about.'
