Several Park City businesses evacuated due to gas leak near Main Street
PARK CITY, Utah () — Several businesses and homes have been evacuated near Park City's historic Main Street due to a gas leak on Tuesday afternoon. Mike Owens, the Park City Fire Department fire marshal, told that crews responded to the area just after noon on June 10 and noticed the smell of natural gas. Enbridge Gas crews have since responded to the scene and begun working on clamping several gas lines to mitigate the leak. As a precaution, officials have evacuated the area south of Heber Avenue, including Main Street, Park Avenue and Swede Alley. There is no estimate on how many people have been impacted by the evacuations or when the evacuation is expected to lift. This is a developing story. 2025 Ontario Envirothon champions crowned
Forests Canada is proud to be the lead agency of Ontario Envirothon – a unique, environmentally-themed academic competition that immerses students in hands-on learning and discovery while building STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills. BARRIE, ON, June 4, 2025 /CNW/ - After a busy spring that saw 460 students representing 92 five-member teams from across Ontario take part in regional Envirothon workshops and competitions, a team from University of Toronto Schools was crowned as 2025 Ontario Envirothon Champions on May 28. The provincial Envirothon was held at the University of Waterloo from May 25 to 28 and featured 85 students from 17 teams competing to represent Ontario at the National Conservation Foundation (NCF)-Envirothon in Calgary, Alberta from July 20 to 26. "Envirothon season is an incredibly exciting time of year, not just for me and the education team here at Forests Canada, but also for the hundreds of students who are gaining a deeper appreciation for nature and honing their STEM skills," Jess Kaknevicius, CEO, Forests Canada, says. "I attended the provincial championships this year and was really impressed by the knowledge and exuberance of the students but also the selflessness and dedication of all the volunteers, teachers and sponsors who make Ontario Envirothon possible." Throughout the season, students have showcased their knowledge of Ontario Envirothon's four core topics – forestry, soils, wildlife, and aquatic ecosystems – along with this year's current topic of "Roots and Resiliency: Fostering Forest Stewardship". 14 homes evacuated by gas leak in Lehi
LEHI, Utah () — More than a dozen homes in Lehi have been evacuated after one homeowner came home to the smell of gas. Jeanteil Livingston, a Lehi City spokesperson, said the gas leak has affected a neighborhood in the area of 2700 North and 900 West. Crews were called out just after 9 a.m. and found 'dangerously high' levels of natural gas. West Valley woman accused of extorting money from couple while carrying their surrogate baby The neighborhood was evacuated out of an abundance of caution shortly after, and by 11 a.m., the homes were still under an evacuation order. Livingston told that fire crews, alongside Enbridge Gas, checked all surrounding homes for the presence of gas and determined the issue was isolated to just the original home. The gas supply was shut off, and crews began monitoring the levels, which have started to come down. Once levels dropped to a safer range, fire crews ventilated the home by opening doors and windows. No injuries have been reported as a result of the gas leak. There is no estimate on when the evacuation order will be lifted. Livingston said Enbridge Gas requested that it remain in effect while its crews assess underground gas levels in the area surrounding the home.
