Odisha govt launches app to simplify land registration process

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha govt on Wednesday launched an e-registration app to simplify the land registration process and make it user-friendly and hassle-free.
Launching the app, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that the e-registration app is a major milestone in providing digital services by the state govt.
"With the launch of this app, the revenue department is not only now closer to the people but also the process will be free of brokers and unnecessary delays," Majhi added.
Through this app, people can book slots for registration deeds, apply for certified copies and Encumbrance Certificates (EC) and access land benchmark values using their Android smartphones from home. The app also provides complete information about sub-registrar offices, making the process entirely paperless and cashless, reducing unnecessary crowds at sub-registrar offices.
Majhi also unveiled the one-year report card of the revenue and disaster management department on the occasion. "The state govt provided land titles to 16,727 homeless people under the Basundhara scheme and 20,385 govt primary, upper primary, high schools, and colleges received permanent land titles in the past year," revenue minister Suresh Pujari said.
"Additionally, through a separate campaign, 4,61,602 accounts were surveyed and records of 1,16,486 deceased persons were updated in the names of their heirs, allowing farmers to benefit from various govt schemes," Pujari added.

The revenue minister also mentioned that while around 1,000 new revenue villages were notified between 1991 and 2024, only 300 of them were included in revenue maps. Last year, close to 400 revenue villages were notified with all administrative inclusions.
Odisha has been successful in managing disasters like cyclones and floods. During last year's Cyclone Dana, we achieved a zero-casualty target. Our disaster management skills are recognised globally, so we must always be ready. The achievements we made this year deserve all the praise, but Odisha must become the best state in India in providing revenue services. Therefore, we must work even harder," Pujari said.
