Potential Wave Pool Project Targeted for San Francisco Bay Area
Wave pool projects are proposed all over the world on a regular basis. So much so that it's tough to keep track of them all. Actually, it's impossible to keep up. But even when a potential project is in its earliest stages and years away from opening (or even breaking ground), it can grab our attention simply for its scale or prominent location. Neptune Surf Club fits the latter — a wave pool targeting a 2029 opening in Alameda, California, an island in the San Francisco Bay. The name is an homage to a depression-era amusement park nestled in the bay between San Francisco and Oakland. It was once a popular waterfront destination in the area until the late 1930s, but the new concept holding the historic 'Neptune Beach' name would offer an entirely different attraction a century later. A web page for the park doesn't offer many details about the project, but a Wave Pool Mag feature highlighted plans for a $50-million, privately funded development anchored by an Endless Surf wave pool. The park will also house a canoe club, camping/glamping, food and beverage, sailing center, shoreline trail, pump track, and boat launch ramp, according to Wave Pool Mag. While that list sounds like a lot, design specialist William Duncanson told Wave Pool the park will follow a 'go small or go home' approach, 'as a way to focus on the core offering (surf) and strip out any big diversions that don't add to the surf experience that we're trying to deliver to the community.' Notably, this would be the Bay Area's first surf park. The drive from Alameda, across the Bay Bridge, into the city, and out to Ocean Beach, San Francisco is about 40 minutes, if the traffic is manageable. Santa Cruz is about 90 minutes south, while Half Moon Bay is approximately an hour south of Alameda. That puts the proposed surf park within range of three prominent surf zones and, by virtue, a wide range of surfers. On top of this, Duncanson seems to suggest that the project fills another need as well: capitalizing on land that currently isn't accessible to the public. 'The city has been anxious to have a plan for this area so they can create a capital campaign and implementation timeline,' he said. 'They see us as a catalyst for this effort. Separately, this area just has so much potential. It is already a vibrant community with services, activities, and businesses which we think we can plug into and amplify that ecosystem.'

Who is Charles Schwab heir? Take a look inside at Michael Schwab's $35 million wave pool in Mexico
While Charles Schwab established his name and billions of dollars by transforming the brokerage industry, his son is creating waves of a different type by establishing a surfing community on the Mexican coast. Michael Schwab is a partner in the construction of the Cabo Real Surf Club in Los Cabos, Mexico, which is scheduled to open in 2026 via his private real estate investment entity Meriwether Companies. It will feature the first Endless Surf wave basin in North America, which will be 4 acres and over 800 feet long, as per According to Schwab, there are just a few wave basins in the world. However, this isn't a splash pool. The waves will create rides up to seven feet high and lasting up to 25 seconds. The estimated cost of the wave pool alone, which Endless Surf is powering, is $35 million. Then there is the real estate aspect, where lower-end properties range from $2.5 million to $6 million. 'It's more fun this way,' said Schwab. 'You can't put a bunch of people on that wave, just you.' Also Read: Why is Spotify down today? Thousands report global outage amid significant server issues A post shared by Cabo Real Surf Club (@caborealsurfclub) About 200 people would live in luxury homes in the 3,000-acre master-planned neighborhood, and the basin will provide 400 adjustable waves each hour, ranging from gentle wave to a 'crushing barrel' that a pro would consider difficult. Erin Brooks, a 17-year-old surfing sensation, has purchased a property along the basin since it is so spectacular. 'She wants a place to live in a warm climate, where she can surf every day no matter what,' Schwab told Brooks stated that she decided to purchase a house at the Cabo Real Surf club since it provides "the ultimate amenities" for her 'surf-focused lifestyle.' 'The private, world-class wave pool is a game changer; and the fitness center, beach club, tennis courts, and golf course provide everything I need to stay in peak shape, elevate my surfing, and make the most of every day,' she explained.

America's First-Ever Endless Surf Wave Pool Is Coming Soon
One day, maybe five years from now, you think surfers will declare allegiance to the various brands of wave pools? Like how folks do with booze and cigarettes. Will there be Wavegarden diehards, Kelly Slater Wave Company loyalists, Endless Surf enthusiasts, and so on? It's possible. Me? I'm a Marlboro man. Well, there won't be a shortage of different artificial surf spots to sample, as the modern-day wave pool revolution is absolutely booming. The latest, at least stateside? The Point Surf Park, powered by Endless Surf, has broken ground in Florida, with hopes of opening its doors sometime in 2026. Located just inland from the famed Sebastian Inlet, in the town of Fellsmere, Florida, The Point Surf Park will feature Endless Surf's ES36 technology. The pool will produce waves up to overhead size, offer rides up to 19 seconds long, supply a sundry of different wave options, catering to all skill levels of surfer. And all that will go down simultaneously – high performance peaks on the outside, knee-high rollers for the beginners on the inside. Per Luiz de Araujo, founder behind The Point Surf Park: "Our vision has always been to create a haven for surfers, by surfers. Partnering with Endless Surf to leverage their next-generation technology to bring Florida's surf park dreams to life was a no-brainer. We're so stoked to offer a space where Florida's surfing community can come together and experience waves like never before."In other Florida wave pool news, The Point won't be alone in making artificial waves in the Citrus State in the near future. As we reported last week, Warren Smith's baby, Shell Point Surf Club, is getting underway on the gulf coast of the state as well. That one, too, will feature Endless Surf tech. So, the question is: PerfectSwell or Endless Surf? Budweiser or Coors? Pick your poison.
