KTM unveils upgraded 2026 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R motorcycles

KTM has taken the wraps off the 2026 iterations of its 690 Enduro R and 690 SMC R, two motorcycles that have earned cult status among riders who want raw single-cylinder performance with a distinct character. While the two bikes share the same engine platform, KTM has tailored their updates differently to appeal to their respective audiences—those who live for trails and dirt tracks, and those who thrive on the streets and twisties. KTM 690 Enduro R The 2026 690 Enduro R stays true to its reputation as a hardcore off-road machine, but KTM has worked on making it sharper and more accessible. The motorcycle benefits from internal changes to the engine, aimed at improving overall durability and performance, while also meeting the latest emission regulations. KTM has also introduced new rider aids to make the bike more forgiving without compromising its rugged DNA. Complementing this are tweaks to the chassis and suspension, subtle refinements that promise better balance and control over challenging terrain. In essence, the Enduro R is designed to retain its go-anywhere capability while being more polished than before. Known for its Supermoto styling and agile road manners, the bike now features revised engine internals, a reworked intake and exhaust system, and improvements to the fuel pump and oil delivery setup. These changes ensure smoother power delivery while keeping performance figures at a healthy 78 bhp and 73 Nm. KTM has also addressed rider comfort by adding rubber engine mounts to reduce vibrations, along with a redesigned 65-degree twist-grip for crisper throttle response. Where the SMC R truly steps up is in technology. For the first time, it features a Bluetooth-enabled 4.2-inch colour TFT display, complete with music and call controls as well as turn-by-turn navigation. This makes it not only more engaging on track days but also more practical for everyday riding. The chassis and suspension setup have also been revised, offering better stability and handling precision in urban environments and on winding roads. 2026 KTM 690 Enduro R And 690 SMC R Break Cover

KTM has unveiled the latest 2026 versions of the 690 Enduro R and the 690 SMC R. These motorcycles employ the brand's well-known LC4 engine, but in a heavily reworked form. Along with this, the bike gets revisions in ergonomics, aesthetics, and changes in the electronics suite to improve its capabilities. All while maintaining the off-road style. Starting with the heart of the bikes, the KTM 690 SMC R and the Enduro R both get the 690 cc LC4 motor, famed for being the most powerful single-cylinder on the market. It has been reworked using a new crankcase, oil delivery system, fuel pump, clutch, and revised valve timing to kick out 79 hp of power and 73 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the secondary air system has been eliminated for a more straightforward intake configuration, and the exhaust system has been redesigned with a more compact muffler. Throttle response has been enhanced due to a new 65 degree twist grip, and KTM has increased maintenance intervals. Along with all of the aforementioned changes, the KTM 690 Enduro R features revised bodywork with LED lighting, accompanied by mold-in graphics, and a relocated centre-stand mount. Meanwhile, both bikes continue to be supported by WP suspensions tuned for off-road duties. In terms of features, the upgrades can be seen in the form of a new 4.2-inch color TFT screen instead of the old LCD dash featuring KTMconnect smartphone integration, USB-C charging, controls for music and calls, and turn-by-turn navigation, along with new backlit switchgear and a specific button to disable ABS. Rider assistance features now include lean-sensitive cornering ABS and cornering MTC as standard, with the Enduro R offering a Rally mode that provides adjustable traction and motor slip regulation, while the SMC R features a Track mode with launch control, a five-stage anti-wheelie system, a slip adjuster, and Supermoto-specific ABS configurations.

KTM's ADV portfolio in India introduces two distinct variants

KTM strengthens its ADV presence in India with a feature-packed 390 Adventure X and the debut of the hardcore, global-spec Enduro R for serious off-roaders. KTM has reinforced its middleweight ADV portfolio in India with the introduction of two distinct offerings — the updated KTM 390 Adventure X and the globally-spec KTM 390 Adventure Enduro R. While the former caters to long-distance touring enthusiasts now seeking more value and tech, the latter is purpose-built for riders who demand uncompromised off-road performance, rooted in Dakar DNA. The KTM 390 Adventure X continues to be the accessible gateway into KTM's adventure series, but now gets a significant electronics upgrade. Cruise control with both cruise and speed limiter modes is now standard. The addition of multiple ride modes — Street, Rain, and Off-road — enhances adaptability in changing conditions. Also on board is cornering ABS for added braking confidence mid-lean, and Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC), which improves stability across diverse surfaces. The highlight of this launch, however, is the KTM 390 Adventure Enduro R, offered in its global-spec trim. Designed for riders seeking serious trail capability, the Enduro R features a split-trellis frame with long-travel suspension, including a 43-mm inverted telescopic fork up front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear, both offering 230 mm of travel. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels are shod with aggressive Karoo 4 rubber for optimum grip in technical terrain. Powering the Enduro R is a 398.63 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that delivers 46 PS at 8500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. The six-speed gearbox is equipped with a quickshifter for clutchless shifts, and the electronics suite includes off-road ABS, traction control, and a minimal TFT dashboard with turn-by-turn navigation. With a dry weight of 159.2 kg and 277 mm of ground clearance, it is clear that the Enduro R prioritises capability over comfort. A high saddle height of 895 mm reinforces its hardcore focus. Both models are now available across KTM showrooms in India. The updated KTM 390 Adventure X is priced at ₹3,03,125, while the international-spec KTM 390 Adventure Enduro R commands ₹3,53,825.
