Welsh town shopping centre evacuated after unexploded bomb found
A shopping centre and nearby roads have been closed in a Welsh town, after an unexploded bomb was found. Police have closed off Brackla Street from Castle Bingo down to the junction of Nolton Street in Bridgend.
Brackla Street shopping centre has also been also been evacuated, with major stores including Aldi, Asda, Energie Fitness evacuated, as a precaution, reports WalesOnline.
South Wales Police have urged people to avoid the area. A statement from the force said: "We were called just before 8.55am this morning with a report of an unexploded ordnance device having been found in Cheapside, Bridgend.
"As a precaution Brackla Street has been closed from Castle Bingo down to the junction of Nolton Street.
"We have also evacuated the following premises Aldi; Asda; Brackla House; Energie Fitness; Brackla Street shopping centre and the building site on Cheapside, again as a precaution."
In a further udpate, shortly before 11.20am, South Wales Police said: "The unexploded ordnance discovered in Cheapside, Bridgend, earlier this morning has been safely removed. All the cordons have been lifted, and Brackla Street is now accessible to the public."
