Speaking after handing a cheque for ₹1 crore along with the appointment letter on compassionate grounds to the wife of J. Sushma at an event here on Monday, he stated that implementing such a high-value accident insurance cover to electricity workers was possible only because of 'Indiramma Rajyam'. He noted that no government in the past had even thought of such an insurance cover and worked for the welfare of workers in such a measure. It had become possible now with the Congress coming to power in the State. Providing both accident insurance and a compassionate appointment was a reflection of the Congress government's vision, action and humane approach, the Deputy Chief Minister said. He recalled that such an accident insurance scheme was first introduced in Singareni and later extended to the power utilities. The provision of accident insurance worth over ₹1 crore instils a sense of security among all workers in the power utilities, Mr. Vikramarka said and asked the workers to serve people of the State with dedication.
