HYDERABAD
The power utilities in Telangana have introduced ₹1 crore accident insurance cover to every worker employed by them and it is a historic milestone in the country, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who handles the portfolio of Energy and Finance, said.
Speaking after handing a cheque for ₹1 crore along with the appointment letter on compassionate grounds to the wife of J. Naresh, who lost his life in an accident while on duty for the Northern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TGNPDCL) in Chenjerla Section of the Karimnagar Circle earlier this year, J. Sushma at an event here on Monday, he stated that implementing such a high-value accident insurance cover to electricity workers was possible only because of 'Indiramma Rajyam'.
He noted that no government in the past had even thought of such an insurance cover and worked for the welfare of workers in such a measure. It had become possible now with the Congress coming to power in the State.
Providing both accident insurance and a compassionate appointment was a reflection of the Congress government's vision, action and humane approach, the Deputy Chief Minister said. He recalled that such an accident insurance scheme was first introduced in Singareni and later extended to the power utilities.
The provision of accident insurance worth over ₹1 crore instils a sense of security among all workers in the power utilities, Mr. Vikramarka said and asked the workers to serve people of the State with dedication. He complimented Chairman and Managing Director of the TGNPDCL K. Varun Reddy for successfully implementing the government's vision.
The event was attended by Advisor (Political) to the government Vem Narender Reddy and senior officials from the energy and banking sectors.

I just can't stand it anymore: Elon Musk explodes over Trump's big, beautiful bill

Elon Musk has never been one to hold back. On Tuesday, the billionaire unleashed a fiery broadside against the Trump administration's latest tax-and-spending bill, branding it a "disgusting abomination" that will balloon the federal deficit."I'm sorry, but I just can't stand it anymore," Musk posted on X's social media platform, voicing outrage at the bill passed by Congress with broad Republican massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it. President Donald Trump considers the legislation a key part of his economic plan, but fiscal conservatives have severely criticised it. Elon Musk's harsh criticism was especially notable as it came just days after he finished a short-term role advising the government on spending followed up with a blunt financial warning: 'It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.'Musk stepped down last week from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, which has been tasked with slashing federal House press secretary Karoline Leavitt played down the criticism by one of Trump's top advisers and funders of his political operations during last year's election. 'Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill,' said press secretary Karoline Leavitt. 'It doesn't change the President's opinion. This is one big, beautiful bill, and he's sticking to it.'Musk, who has donated over $250 million to Trump's 2024 campaign, helped shape the now-defunct Deficit Optimization and Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative, which aimed to root out government Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican known for opposing runaway spending, backed Musk's stance with a succinct endorsement: 'He's right.'Musk responded in kind, summing it all up with two words: 'Simple math.'However, the House Speaker described Elon Musk's criticism of the Republican tax and immigration bill as "very disappointing." 'With all due respect, my friend Elon is terribly wrong about the one big beautiful bill,' Mike said he spoke with Musk on Monday for over 20 minutes by telephone. He said he extolled the bill's virtues and how it achieved campaign promises while making permanent massive tax and spending cuts. 'It's a very important first start. Elon is missing it,' Johnson InMust Watch

Congress divided over Operation Sindoor, Pakistani spy arrested in Punjab and more

The political storm over Operation Sindoor continues as Congress demands a special Parliament session. Senior Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Salman Khurshid have contradicted the party line, denying any US role in the ceasefire and criticising those prioritising politics over patriotism. This has led to internal rifts within the Congress and the wider opposition bloc. An all-party Indian delegation led by Tharoor is set to visit Washington DC, coinciding with a Pakistani delegation's visit, as part of India's global outreach following Operation Sindoor. Meanwhile, a major crackdown on ISI spies in India has resulted in over 15 arrests across multiple states including Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir. The arrested individuals were allegedly passing critical information about troop movements during Operation Sindoor to their ISI handlers. Some of those arrested were working in government offices and had access to sensitive internal information. The spy network was exposed after agencies intercepted calls from Pakistan using Indian SIM cards during Operation Sindoor.
