Drone attack set fire to industrial site in Russia's Engels, governor says

MOSCOW, June 6 (Reuters) - Drones attacked an industrial enterprise in Russia's southern city of Engels on Friday, causing a fire, the regional governor said. Video posted on social media and verified by Reuters showed a fire burning fiercely and emitting huge clouds of black smoke. Governor Roman Busargin did not specify what kind of industrial site was targeted. In January, a state of emergency was introduced in Engels after a Ukrainian drone strike hit an oil depot that serves a nearby base for Russian nuclear bomber planes, causing a fire that took days to put out. Busargin said a high-rise apartment block was also hit, but there were no casualties. Ukraine's general staff said it struck Russian airfields in Saratov and Ryazan regions, in addition to fuel reservoirs, during an overnight attack on Friday. Engels is part of the Saratov region. Ukraine has not targeted energy facilities in Russia since the middle of March, when a month-long pause in attacks on energy facilities was brokered by the United States. In one of the last such incidents, a March 14 drone strike caused a fire at Russia's Black Sea Tuapse oil refinery that was put out after three days.

Ukrainian drones hit oil depot in Engels supplying Russia's strategic aircraft

Ukraine's defence forces attacked an oil depot in the Russian city of Engels in Saratov Oblast on the night of 5-6 June, causing a large-scale fire. The facility is used to refuel strategic aircraft that launch missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine. Source: social media; Russian Telegram channels Details: Early reports indicate that the attack was conducted by drones. The strike caused a fire at an industrial facility located in Engels where fuel for strategic bombers is stored. These aircraft are regularly used by Russia to launch cruise missile attacks on Ukrainian cities. This oil depot had already been attacked by Ukrainian drones at the beginning of January 2024. At that time, it took several days to extinguish the fire. Although the Russian authorities are not specifying the nature of the damaged facility, numerous videos are appearing on social media clearly showing a large-scale fire at the oil depot. Users are also posting footage of flames and columns of smoke. Saratov Oblast Governor Roman Busargin confirmed the fire, but did not specify what exactly was burning. "A fire has been recorded at one of the industrial facilities in Engels as a result of a UAV attack," Busargin wrote on Telegram. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Brendan Rodgers' pointed Hampden 'message' to Celtic board

As the Hoops struggled against Aberdeen in Saturday's cup final, dominating possession but not doing a lot with it before conceding a late equaliser, Adam Idah and Arne Engels were both subbed off as Brendan Rodgers tried to get things going. Ultimately, those decisions didn't spark anything and then went on to heartbreakingly lose on penalties. The club's record signing, £11m man Engels, was taken off for Luke McCowan after 65 minutes while Idah was replaced by unproven youngster Johnny Kenny a bit later on. Tam McManus reckons it was a pointed message from the manager to the board ahead of the summer window. Read more: Kyogo hints at plans for next season as ex-Celtic star looks to future Scott Bain set for early Celtic exit as free transfer replacement identified Speaking on PLZ Soccer, he said: "I think they (Celtic) have played really good football up to a point - that was Bayern Munich away, and I don't think they have since then. "I think after that they have thought 'we are going to win the league, we will probably win the cup' and there has been a real drop off in performance levels, hunger, everything that culminated (against Aberdeen). "I think there is a big summer ahead. Kieran Tierney is coming in which could be a fantastic signing if he keeps himself fit, he is a tremendous left-back and definitely better than what they have got. "They are going to have to sign another two or three, and that is going to cost money - £10million players. "I thought taking Engels and Idah off - £20million - in a cup final is telling. Brendan Rodgers - it's a message to the Celtic board. "You paid £20million for two players, and you are bringing a kid on Johnny Kenny? Hmm."

Celtic star Arne Engels is seeking more trophy joy to repay parents for all they have done

The Belgium international's family were present to watch Engels and his team-mates lift the William Hill Premiership trophy last weekend and he will have a contingent at Hampden for this afternoon's Scottish Gas Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen. The 21-year-old is looking to complete a treble in his first season in Glasgow after making the move from Bundesliga outfit Augsburg in August. The former Club Brugge youth player said: 'My mum and dad are coming and my agent is also coming and hopefully another two friends also, so it will be full of Engels. 'My mum and dad were also here for trophy day last weekend. 'It's always nice to have them here and to let them see the trophies and they also want to experience something special and see me lifting the trophies. 'It's hopefully an amazing feeling for them and I hope I can make them even prouder than they are. 'You always want to make them proud and I know every footballer knows how much their mum and dad did for them and especially for me. 'It was not always easy to leave me behind and to see me going to boarding school and stuff but I hope I can give them something back. 'I'm still young and I can hopefully still give them a lot back and hopefully can make them proud. 'If you're a schoolboy then you just want to enjoy the football and enjoy being with your friends at the football pitch and wanting to improve. 'When you get to a later stage then it's all about winning and all about getting trophies and getting better and better. 'That's where I am now. I want to win everything and that's why I came here. 'It's important for me to get those trophies and hopefully win another one.' While Engels is experiencing major trophy wins for the first time this campaign, some of his Hoops team-mates are looking to further strengthen their already-historic legacy of silverware. He added: 'It's amazing to see how they still want to win everything and still want to win every game. 'That's an amazing thing to see. You also want to learn from that and want to see how they behave in a week like this, how they are behaving and going up to a really big game. 'That's a real positive thing that I have here to see those two and all the other guys that also already took a lot of silverware home. 'You can see how they do that. Just to be calm and to do everything in the right mindset and in the right thing that you always do. Don't change something, just act like it's a normal game. 'I think that's a really important thing to not change something, to just see it as a normal game but it is not a normal game. 'Those are the things that you take with you.'
