Ministry ramps up school inspections

KUWAIT: The Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday that it will intensify field visits to schools across the country to ensure full readiness and provide a safe, well-organized environment conducive to a successful and stable academic year. In a statement, the ministry said it has restructured field work teams responsible for maintenance and equipment to enhance efficiency and ensure optimal use of financial and human resources in preparation for the start of school. Engineer Mohammad Al-Azmi, from the Engineering Affairs Department in the Capital Educational District, highlighted the ministry's digital transformation initiative through the launch of the 'Balagh' program — an integrated electronic platform for managing maintenance operations. 'The program represents one of the most prominent digital initiatives aimed at improving school maintenance management and accelerating response times,' he said. Al-Azmi noted that a field survey covering 165 schools in the Capital District generated numerous maintenance reports, many of which have already been addressed, with remaining tasks scheduled for completion ahead of the new school year. Engineer Ali Al-Awad emphasized that the Balagh program allows school administrations to report faults directly and efficiently via a user-friendly digital interface, significantly shortening the cycle from reporting to resolution and ensuring enhanced school readiness. Engineer Hawra Al-Ballam added that incoming maintenance reports are prioritized and addressed according to civil, mechanical, and electrical categories. She noted that particular attention is given to hygiene and public health standards to safeguard school buildings and preserve their structural integrity. Mechanical work includes cleaning filters, servicing air conditioning systems, repairing suspension units, and replacing damaged parts, along with preventive maintenance for central AC units and refrigerators. Electrical work encompasses repairing distribution panels, replacing faulty breakers, and addressing lighting issues. All tasks are completed according to a strict timetable to ensure a safe, comfortable, and fully prepared educational environment for students and staff.— KUNA

Kuwait Education Ministry steps up school inspections ahead of new academic year

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: Kuwait's Ministry of Education said Tuesday it is intensifying field visits to schools nationwide to ensure readiness ahead of the new academic year, aiming to provide a safe and organized environment that supports a stable and successful start. In a statement, the ministry said it has restructured field teams responsible for maintenance and equipment to improve performance efficiency and maximize the use of financial and human resources across all schools. Engineer Mohammad Al-Azmi, from the Engineering Affairs Department in the Capital Educational District under the Educational Facilities Sector, said the ministry has launched the Balagh program, an integrated electronic platform for managing maintenance operations, as part of the government's digital transformation plan. He described the platform as one of the most prominent digital initiatives in the school maintenance sector. Al-Azmi said a field survey covered 165 schools in the Capital Educational District, generating numerous maintenance reports. Many of the issues have been resolved, while work on the remaining cases is being carried out under a specific timetable to ensure readiness before the school year begins. Engineer Ali Al-Awad, also from the Capital Educational District, said the Balagh platform represents a qualitative shift in handling maintenance work, enabling schools to report faults directly and efficiently through an easy-to-use digital interface. He noted the system shortens the response cycle from report registration to closure after implementation, ensuring rapid resolution of issues and boosting school preparedness. In the same context, Engineer Hawraa Al-Ballam, from the Capital District's Engineering Affairs Department, said reports are handled according to defined standards and priorities to prevent any disruptions at the start of the academic year. Al-Ballam explained that reports are classified into civil, mechanical, and electrical works. She stressed that technical teams focused on projects enhancing hygiene and public health standards to protect school buildings and preserve their structural integrity. She said mechanical works included cleaning filters, washing air-conditioning systems, repairing suspension units, and replacing damaged parts, while preventive maintenance continues on central air-conditioning systems, units, and refrigerators. Electrical works, she added, involved repairing distribution panels, replacing damaged breakers, and addressing lighting issues. These tasks, she noted, were carried out under an effective timetable given their importance in creating a comfortable educational environment and ensuring the safety of students and staff.

Awqaf ministry launches initiatives to recycle ablution water in two mosques

QNA Doha The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Engineering Affairs Department, launched two pilot projects to recycle ablution water in two mosques in Al Wakrah and Lusail. This project is part of its efforts to promote environmental sustainability and rationalise water consumption. The first project included the Qanbar Al Ansari Mosque (No. 1209) in Al Wakrah and was implemented in cooperation with the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and Al Wakrah Municipality. The second project included the Al Kaldari Mosque (No. 1368) in Lusail, in cooperation with Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company. The two projects aim to treat ablution water inside the two mosques and reuse it to irrigate the surrounding green spaces, in addition to using it in flushing boxes in restrooms. This will contribute to reducing freshwater consumption, limiting waste, and increasing the efficiency of water resource use. The Engineering Affairs Department confirmed that this initiative is part of the ministry's plan to implement the water recycling experiment in a number of mosques under construction, in preparation for expanding its scope across the country. This initiative responds to the country's drive to adopt innovative environmental solutions and promote the transition to a green economy. The department explained that these efforts align with the ministry's vision to develop mosque infrastructure to meet modern requirements. They also contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing environmental awareness, in line with the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly with regard to environmental development and the preservation of vital resources for future generations.
