10,000 Students Sculpt Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idols in Akola, Enter World Book of Records

1 2 Akola: In a unique blend of devotion and environmental awareness, Akola has entered the England World Book of Records after 10,000 school students sculpted eco-friendly Ganesh idols from shadu clay under one roof. The mega workshop, organized by Nilesh Dev Mitra Mandal, consumed nearly 10 tonnes of clay, making it one of the largest such initiatives in the country. Held ahead of Ganeshotsav, the event aimed to spread the message of celebrating festivals without harming the environment. With 20,000 hands at work, students pledged to install only pollution-free idols in their homes this year. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi leader Prakash Ambedkar inaugurated the workshop. District collector Ajit Kumbhar, Municipal commissioner Dr Sunil Lahane, Akola Urban Bank chairman Shashank Joshi, CEO Rajan Sontakke and other dignitaries were present. "This initiative helped students shed their hesitation and express themselves through art. It marks the beginning of creativity in their lives," said Ambedkar. Calling it "an action-oriented programme for environmental protection," Dr Lahane praised the scale of the effort. Collector Kumbhar said the eco-friendly message would inspire future generations.
