Shop the Lionesses' champions outfit looks from M&S as Chloe Kelly wears £35 waistcoat

The Lionesses celebrate their Euros win in style at Downing Street, sporting tailored looks from their M&S collection and you can shop the pieces from £30 Fresh from their iconic Euros win, the Lionesses continued their celebrations at a Downing Street reception hosted by Angela Rayner, with the whole team sporting tailored looks from their Marks & Spencer collection. M&S has a long-standing tailoring partnership with the English FA. In 2007, they became the official suit supplier for the England senior men's football team, and just this year, the high street retailer launched a 13-piece collection designed for the women's football team. From chic waistcoats to tailored matching sets and crisp shirts, the collection aims to "bridge the gap between the players off pitch style and our customers love for the sport". Serving up some serious looks off the pitch, the team headed to No. 10 wearing standout pieces from the collection. Chloe Kelly opted for the Tailored Pleat Front Wide Leg Trousers, priced at £39.50, teamed with the matching Tailored Asymmetric Waistcoat, priced at £35 but currently out of stock online. Waistcoat co-ords have been a huge trend, and Chloe's sleek, structured, and surprisingly versatile M&S set gives off that effortlessly cool vibe the Lionesses do so well. The waistcoat was a popular pick among the team with Michelle Agyemang, Alessia Russo and Alex Greenwood rocking it as well. Captain Leah Williamson went for a more summery take on classic suiting with the Straight Short Sleeve Single Breasted Blazer, priced at £59, paired with the High Waisted Pleat Front Bermuda Shorts, priced at £29.50. Unfortunately, the shorts are currently out of stock, along with the waistcoat, but some are still available to shop in store. Player Lucy Bronze opted for a lighter colour palette with the Tailored Pleat Front Barrel Leg Trousers in soft green, priced at £39.50. The barrel leg silhouette is one of the biggest trends of 2025, so it's no surprise to see M&S incorporate this stylish shape into the collection. Focusing on simple silhouettes, a neutral colour palette and cool-girl tailoring, this range works for all occasions from office days to summer weddings and evening drinks with your friends. Talking about the collection Maddy Evans, Director of M&S Woman comments: "We're thrilled to have collaborated with the English FA over the last 18 years and we're proud to have delivered this latest collection ahead of the Lionesses next tournament. It comprises an effortless, modern tailoring edit for spring/summer 2025, that feels authentic to the team and that the players will feel proud to wear. Championing style and versatility and underpinned by new modern shapes it's a collection for an incredible team of women, who are role models to the nation and who we'll be supporting every step of the way.' If the Lionesses success has inspired you, why not show your support for the team with a new football shirt? England fans can pick up their shirt from Fanatics or the England Store, with several different options available including the Home Stadium Shirt (£84.99) and Dri-FIT ADV Home Match Shirt (£124.99). Both options are also available in Mens and Kids sizes.

I've been to a World Cup final in the USA – here's what England fans can expect (hopefully)

A YEAR today, thousands of English fans will hope to be in uncharted territory - a World Cup final in America. There will be a scramble for tickets to watch the showpiece at the Met Life Stadium. And things were very different 31 years ago. For a start, there were very few English supporters at the tournament as the national team failed to qualify. Advertisement READ MORE IN FOOTBALL That - along with the scheduling of Wigan borough's school holidays - gave us our chance. My dad and I were members of the England Travel Club and in pre-internet days, every FA was allocated World Cup tickets, whether they had qualified or not. The English FA doled them out through the Travel Club - and we cleaned up. It was part football trip, part brilliant family holiday. Advertisement In 1994, an old couple heard our accents and politely asked what we were doing in America. My dad's mate, Phil, replied: "We're here for the football". That confused them as the NFL season had not started. Know-it-all ten-year-old me leaned over to them and said: "He means the soccer." If anything, that confused them even more! Advertisement It did not permeate all parts of US society, although the stadiums were pretty much full - certainly more packed than at Euro 96 two years later. However, that created a problem for dad's pal Phil. Four years earlier, at Italia 90, tickets had been in plentiful supply from the touts and not too highly priced either. Dad and Phil managed to get to two quarter finals and the memorable semi in Turin where Gazza and the rest of the England fans ended up in tears. But in '94, although we were warned to stay away from 'scalpers' there was barely a ticket tout in sight and Phil, who had not been so lucky in the Travel Club draw, had to scour local newspaper adverts to try to get final tickets for himself and two sons. Advertisement He managed it, too, but not before a hair-raising trip to a rough part of LA and an impromptu auction with another hopeful fan who, he claimed, had a gun. Another oddity for an English football fan was sitting on bleachers in the stadium rather than seats - especially at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, just outside Los Angeles. 8 Brazil's star man Romario with the World Cup after his side's win on penalties Credit: AFP 8 The Los Angeles Times has Brazil's victory on its front page the next day Advertisement 8 The final itself was the worst match of the tournament - but what an occasion! It was packed and boiling hot - Loads of the 94,000-strong crowd were supporting Brazil - although we were sat next to a Scottish Italy fan who waxed lyrical about reserve defender Luigi Apolloni, of Parma. Advertisement He did actually get on too, after 35 minutes and helped Italy keep Romario quiet. After a forgettable 120 minutes, it went to penalties. We were behind the goal that Roberto Baggio skied his spot-kick over, nearly hitting us (OK, maybe not, we were a bit far back for that). After the match, we even got to Disneyland to watch the parade for a new film called the Lion King. A dramatic end to a brilliant trip - but things will be different next year. Advertisement 8 My ticket to the 1994 World Cup final Thanks to the MLS, Lionel Messi et al, the US public seem to be more into football and there should be more of a buzz throughout the country. And Kane will not sky his penalty in the final over the bar. Then, the fans in New Jersey will be watching Three Lions kings... Advertisement

Trans women barred from women's football by English FA

Trans women barred from women's football by English FA Transgender participation has become a hot issue across the globe, as different sports try to balance inclusivity with ensuring fair competition. Photo: AFP Transgender women will no longer be able to play in women's football from June 1, 2025, England's governing Football Association announced on Thursday. The FA said it had updated its policy following last month's UK Supreme Court ruling regarding the Equality Act. The Scottish Football Association said on Thursday it would also implement a similar ban from the start of its 2025/26 season. These new rulings will apply to all women's football at amateur and professional levels in both countries. The English FA's transgender inclusion policy had been updated just before the Supreme Court ruling, and continued to allow transgender women to play in women's football, provided they reduced testosterone levels. Those rule changes gave the FA discretion on whether to allow a trans woman to play, with consideration given to issues of safety and fairness. Now, though, the FA has redrawn its policy and barred transgender women from the women's game. "We understand that this will be difficult for people who simply want to play the game they love in the gender by which they identify, and we are contacting the registered transgender women currently playing to explain the changes and how they can continue to stay involved in the game," the FA said in a statement. In a separate announcement, the SFA said: "As a gender-affected sport, the Scottish FA board has determined that from the start of season 2025/26, only biological females will be permitted to play in competitive girls' and women's football which is governed by the Scottish FA. "Under the Scottish FA player journey, players move to competitive football at Under-13 level." (AFP)

English FA will ban transgender women from women's football from next season

The Football Association will ban transgender women from women's football in England from next season. It follows a similar move by the Scottish FA this week after a UK Supreme Court ruling in April that a female is defined by biological sex. In Scotland, only players who were female at birth will be allowed to play in women's football over the age of 13. A statement from the English FA said: "As the governing body of the national sport, our role is to make football accessible to as many people as possible, operating within the law and international football policy defined by UEFA and FIFA. "Our current policy, which allows transgender women to participate in the women's game, was based on this principle and supported by expert legal advice. "This is a complex subject, and our position has always been that if there was a material change in law, science, or the operation of the policy in grassroots football then we would review it and change it if necessary. "The Supreme Court's ruling on the 16 April means that we will be changing our policy. Transgender women will no longer be able to play in women's football in England, and this policy will be implemented from 1 June 2025. "We understand that this will be difficult for people who simply want to play the game they love in the gender by which they identify, and we are contacting the registered transgender women currently playing to explain the changes and how they can continue to stay involved in the game."
