Korie McGreevy on form at Kirkistown as Easter Monday meeting hit by red flag incidents

The McAdoo Racing Kawasaki rider made it a double with a win in the Supersport class, bringing his tally to five victories over the holiday weekend following his treble at Bishopscourt in Co Down on Saturday, where McGreevy got his hands on the Enkalon Trophy for the first time. Rain at Kirkistown on the Ards Peninsula proved problematic for riders and the event organisers, with a slew of red flags disrupting the planned race schedule. In the Superbike Cup race, a heavy fall for Co Fermanagh's Loris Britton resulted in a stoppage, with the rider taken to hospital by ambulance. McGreevy extended his lead in the Ulster Superbike Championship after renewing his rivalry with 2019 champion Carl Phillips (J McC Racing Kawasaki). In a battle that went down to the wire on the final lap, it was McGreevy who got the verdict by two tenths of second after eight laps of the 1.5-mile circuit. Co Down's Daniel Matheson, who impressed at Bishopscourt on Saturday, was in fine form again as he secured the last rostrum position on his BMW. Current champion Jonny Campbell was sixth on his BMW behind Mark Hewitt and Aaron Spence. In the Supersport race, McGreevy was made to work hard for the win by Carrick's Graeme Irwin, who has caught the eye on his return to the sport this year. Irwin was only 0.466s behind at the finish on the Magic Bullet Ducati, with Mark Conlin third on his Ducati ahead of Christian Elkin. There is now a long break until round four of the Ulster Superbike Championship back at Kirkistown on June 7 for the second round of the Belfast Club's 'Big 3 Series', with McGreevy leading the King of Kirkistown and Crown Prince of Kirkistown standings. 'I love Kirkistown on Easter Monday and I enjoyed riding in the wet,' said McGreevy. 'I was quickest in every session and we won both races, so we're leaving the Easter meetings with a good lead in both championships. 'The McAdoo bikes are going brilliant and it's one of those days that you get now and then when everything clicks.' Glengormley's Jeremy McWilliams won the Supertwin race on the new J McC Racing Aprilia, beating Donegal's Caolan Irwin (Burrows Engineering/RK Racing Aprilia) by the smallest of margins on the line. McWilliams will have one eye on the North West 200 in two weeks' time, where he is also set to ride a Ducati for Jason McCaw's Bangor-based team.
