Skanska wins new nursing home construction contract in Oslo

Skanska has entered into an agreement with The Norwegian Diakonhjem to construct a new nursing home in Oslo, Norway. The deal, valued at Nkr578m ($56.60m), will be recorded in the company's Nordic order books for the third quarter (Q3) of 2025. In September 2021, Skanska emerged as the winner of a competition to construct the forthcoming nursing home and was chosen as the general contractor for the project. In late 2022, the Nursing Home Administration within the Municipality of Oslo named Diakonhjemmet as the provider for the nursing home building. The design of the new nursing home accommodates 138 long-term care beds. The facility will be situated near Diakonhjemmet Hospital, VID University College, and Diakonova Vocational School. Spanning roughly 15,200m², the facility will include seven floors, an underground parking area, and spaces designated for commercial use. It will also feature outdoor spaces, including a sensory garden and a walkway that connects to the care homes within Diakonveien Omsorg+. Skanska Norway CEO Stein Ivar Hellestad said: 'The collaboration phase has given us the opportunity to get involved early in the project, and use our expertise and experience from other health and care buildings we have realised in recent years. Together with Diakonhjemmet, we have worked purposefully to optimise the project and ensure that we choose the best solutions. 'The collaboration has been very good and we are very pleased that Diakonhjemmet has given us the assignment to build one of Oslo's largest nursing homes. The new nursing home will have great significance for Oslo's residents and we look forward to starting construction.' The project is driven by climate and environmental objectives, aiming to achieve passive house standards and secure Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Excellent certification. Construction is set to begin this month and is expected to be completed by August 2027. Last month, Skanska published its interim report for Q2 2025. The company reported revenues of Skr44.6bn, a slight decrease from Skr47.4bn; when adjusted for currency fluctuations, revenues remained steady. This May, the company won construction and redevelopment projects in Norway and Sweden. Construction of mixed-use development Sensorium completes in France

Eiffage Construction, a division of European construction company Eiffage, has announced the completion of the Sensorium, a mixed-use development in France. Located at the entrance of La Madeleine, near Vieux-Lille, the Sensorium is a project delivered by Eiffage Construction, which served as the general contractor. The development, which took nearly three years to complete, features 135 housing units, including 41 social rental units and adapted housing for young adults with autism-spectrum disorders, alongside 18,000m² of office space, shops, restaurants, collaborative spaces, and outdoor areas. The entire development is centred around a new city gateway square, which includes a central park filled with trees, a public square, a pedestrian walkway, children's play areas, and a two-way access road. This project has also seen the planting of more than 300 trees, quadrupling the initial number. The rooftops of the Sensorium boast shared terraces that are accessible to all residents, complete with vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and climbing plants, contributing to the greenery of the development. The project prioritised environmental sustainability, with the use of low-carbon concrete throughout the construction. The office space foundation slab's concrete saved an estimated 280 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, Eiffage stated. In terms of energy performance, the development's office spaces are aiming for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Excellent certification and the Haute Qualité Environnementale Sustainable Building and E2C1 labels while the housing units are targeting the BEE+ label. The construction site engaged up to 200 workers and utilised four cranes, with logistics managed to allow the simultaneous construction of the office and housing phases. The project team includes Bouygues Immobilier and Sogeprom-Projectim as project owners, Dehaene + partenaires architectes urbanistes as the architect, and several engineering and construction economy companies such as PROJEX, DIAGOBAT, EGIS, URBA FOLIA, and OPTIBAT. Eiffage Énergie Systèmes handled the electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and building management systems for the offices while Eiffage Route was responsible for roadworks and utilities. Earlier this April, Eiffage Construction also completed the delivery of three production halls for Airbus Atlantic in Rochefort, France. Additionally, the park will be equipped with electric vehicle charging facilities and aims to achieve 'Net Zero Ready' status, aligning with the transition to net-zero operations for occupiers. IM Properties development director Richard Sykes said: 'Winvic is a trusted and valued member of our supply chain who understands our ambitions to deliver legacy projects and work in partnership with the community. They have successfully delivered several of our previous schemes and will work closely with our team to help shape the first stages of this strategically important development. Tungsten Properties secures $34.8m to develop urban logistics park in Basingstoke

Tungsten Properties, a Leicestershire-based property developer, has announced securing development forward funding of £26m ($34.8m) from Leftfield to deliver Leftfield Park Basingstoke in UK. The six-acre site on Crockford Lane is set to become a new urban logistics hub within Chineham Industrial Park, located five minutes from the M3's junction six. The company has obtained planning permission to construct two industrial warehouses measuring 100,555ft² and 23,275ft², respectively. These buildings are designed to be net-zero carbon ready and will aim for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Excellent, an energy performance certificate 'A' rating, and a positive biodiversity net gain through on-site measures. Features such as photovoltaics, air-source heat pumps, and 20% electric vehicle charging points, as well as 80% passive charging for car parking spaces will be included. MCS Build, the contracting division of construction company MCSGroup, has been appointed to construct the buildings. Construction is scheduled to commence this month, with practical completion expected in January 2026. The project is projected to create 110 construction jobs and 125 jobs in the occupation phase. This development marks Tungsten Properties' second investment deal with Leftfield, following the acquisition of the 246,000ft² Super W logistics unit at Appleton Thorn, Warrington, which was let to Farmfoods. BNP Paribas Real Estate, serving as property advisor, represented Tungsten Properties while real estate services provider Savills acted on behalf of Leftfield. Tungsten Properties development director David Mole said: 'We are pleased to announce the commencement of development for these two high-quality mid-box warehouses for industrial and logistics occupiers. "There is a strong demand in the area from businesses seeking well-located and modern best-in-class space. As this marks our second collaboration with Leftfield, we are excited to deliver a top-tier scheme for them.' Leftfield CEO Nico Fourie said: 'We continue to flesh out our Leftfield Fund III with quality warehouse assets. The geographic dispersion of properties in the fund is strategic and Basingstoke is a sought-after location for value accretion. "Following our previous high-quality acquisition from Tungsten, they are a natural partner for further collaborations.' In March 2024, Tungsten Properties commissioned McLaren Construction with a £41m contract for the development of Centurion Park, an industrial and logistics hub in Colchester, Essex.
