French Power Prices Jump as Heat Drives Up Demand for Cooling
Electricity prices in France have surged as unseasonably warm weather pushes up demand for air conditioning — a trend that's expected to continue. French power prices for Thursday jumped 41% to €91.2 (about $106) per megawatt-hour, the highest level since early July, according to data from Epex Spot.

European Day-Ahead Power Jumps as Heat Wave Intensifies
Power prices for delivery on Tuesday spiked to the highest level for months as a brutal heat wave drives up demand for cooling and crimps supply from some French nuclear reactors. Day-ahead power prices in Germany surged to the highest since February, while in the UK and France, contracts reached 3-month highs. German prices rose as high as €476.19 ($557.83) a megawatt-hour for the hour from 8 pm on Tuesday, according to Epex Spot.

French Power Price Plunges Below Zero as Solar Floods the Grid
French day-ahead power tumbled below zero for the first time since July last year as solar generation this weekend is set to overwhelm the grid. The daily average settled at €-1.05 a megawatt-hour in an auction on the Epex Spot SE exchange in Paris. It's the lowest level among all the major markets in Europe.
