Azad Engineering opens exclusive facility for GE Vernova works in Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based precision engineering firm Azad Engineering inaugurated a 7,600 sq. mts. exclusive lean manufacturing facility at its new plant in Tunikibollaram here to focus on global major GE Vernova's Steam Power Services business. This facility will serve and support the supply of highly engineered and complex rotating and stationary airfoils for advanced nuclear, industrial and thermal power turbine engines, meeting GE Vernova's global demand in the power generation and essential industries, Azad Engineering said. Established at Azad's Centre of Excellence & Innovation Centre in the city, the facility marks the evolution of a partnership with GE Vernova that began with a few machines in 2013 into a world-class manufacturing centre, demonstrating the companies shared commitment to excellence, it said after the inauguration on Tuesday (April 29, 2025) in which Rakesh Chopdar, chairman and CEO and GE Vernova's senior global leadership team participated. The new facility is part of Azad Engineering's broader strategy to create manufacturing capacity to meet the needs of key global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) partners at its COE & Innovation Centre, Mr. Chopdar said. 'With over 180 direct skilled professionals currently employed and plans to add several hundred more, we are creating a robust ecosystem of precision engineering excellence to produce around 1,00,000 blades per annum from this factory. The rigorous qualification processes we've undergone, achieving precision tolerances measured in microns, reflect Azad's dedication to meeting the exacting standards of global industry...', he said in a release. Without disclosing specifics, the company said the new lean manufacturing facility is a significant investment in expanding Azad's manufacturing capabilities as part of its strategic focus on long-term partnerships with global OEMs across aerospace, defence, energy as well as oil and gas sectors. It is poised to consolidate the company's position as a key player in the precision manufacturing landscape, Azad said. This is the second such facility it opened recently. In March, the company had opened a 7,200 sq. mts. exclusive lean manufacturing facility for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) in Tunikibollaram with about 200 skilled professionals.
