#SHOWBIZ: Fortune smiles on ex-action star

ALMOST two years after announcing his retirement from acting, Hairul Azreen reveals that he continues to receive offers, including becoming a sports brand ambassador. The actor, known for action movies such as 'Paskal', 'Polis Evo 2' and 'Wira' says that his time since retiring has been largely spent with his family. "Now I can take care of the children, send them to and from school, including training. The children's and my schedule during the week can be quite busy, "After quitting acting, I got offers to be an ambassador for several brands. "I thought I would have lots of time to focus on my children after leaving showbiz, but it turned out that I still had work. I still have blessings in other forms." Hairul admitted to being a little worried about how not working as an actor any more would affect his income. But the husband of actress Hanis Zalikha said that he put his trust in God's hands and expressed his belief in divine providence. "I used to wonder what my income would be like when I stopped acting. But, thank God, I received two offers to become an ambassador," he said. "Before quitting, I told my wife that I was all right with living a simpler life. Maybe people will not know me or care about me, but I did not care about any of that. "When I quit, other forms of sustenance will come," he told BH Online. The 37-year-old actor encouraged others not to fear change. "People are often afraid to change jobs, but in reality, God's provision is vast. It depends on the individual and whether they dare to do new things or not," he said. Hairul announced his retirement in August 2023 while appearing as a guest on Era FM's 3 'Pagi Era' segment. The military action film 'Malbatt: Misi Bakara', released on Aug 24, 2023, marked his final appearance as an actor. However, in October 2024, Hairul made headlines again when he announced his involvement as a professional e-sports player for the Selangor Red Giants team.

Cherry-Pickers: Drawing Conclusions With False Narratives

Subscribe to our FREE The rise of racism, religion, and royal institution (3R) issues in Malaysia has gotten many people's Renomas in a bunch. So much so that they weave their own accounts of what happened, which could only mean unnecessary trouble that could exacerbate the issue(s). For example, this Tweet regarding a recent blunder by local Malay-language radio station Era FM and three of their deejays (radio hosts) accused of mocking a Hindu practice, was compared with an even more recent gaffe by Malaysian Chinese-language newspaper Sin Chew Daily when they misprinted an incorrect version of the Malaysian flag on their front page. NATO – No Action Talk Only — bukanttkm (@bukanttkm) The Tweet implies that there is a sort of bias or favoritism towards the Chinese newspaper over the Malay radio broadcast station, saying Era FM received heavy penalties for their actions while Sin Chew Daily merely got off with an apology. READ MORE: READ MORE: What it failed to mention is that Sin Chew Daily's problems are far from over as their flag fumble has been The case is currently being investigated under Section 4(1)(b) of the Printing Presses and Publishing Act 1984 and Section 3(1)(c) of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963. Sin Chew Daily has also suspended their executive editor-in-chief Chan Aun Kuang and deputy chief sub-editor Tsai Shwu San over the major oversight. Not only that, both editors had been detained by the police as part of the investigation process. Both were later released on police bail. READ MORE: Meanwhile, a doctor Tweeted similar sentiments towards the issue in response to another Tweet that lacks the depth and understanding of several recent 3R issues. In the Tweet, the doctor said 'I cannot afford to be silent. The government needs to be fair no matter who violates the 3Rs, and there needs to be action taken. One was fined RM250,000 while another apologised and it was enough? I only ask for equality'. — Rice (@BangDenol) The doctor, who has a verified account with 248,000 followers on Twitter, unintentionally helped fan sentiments of bias as others piled on, even referencing the recent Jalan Masjid India temple issue. A quick recap: A Hindu temple on Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur, was relocated by the government to make way for construction of a mosque, which is being built to address capacity issues in the area. The issue was solved amicably between the temple committee, the government, and textile giant Jakel Trading, the landowner. So, does the temple not deserve that land it was given? That's up to the landowner, not the public. READ MORE: READ MORE: Was each case resolved with fairness and decency? For the Era case, the radio station was fined RM250,000 for their hosts' actions. Although their licence was never revoked, as the first Tweet in this article suggests, the three hosts involved in the controversy did get suspended from work for a month. The Jalan Masjid India temple case was solved amicably between all parties involved and the 'free land' the temple was relocated to was part of an understanding or a compromise between the government and a minority group, which is already usually quite rare. Last but not least, the most recent flag issue involving Sin Chew Daily is still undergoing investigations, and the case is far from over as the nation awaits for news related to possible charges against the news publisher. Three Era FM DJs who went viral for video seemingly mocking Thaipusam back on duty

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — The three radio announcers from Era FM breakfast show are back on duty after being put on leave after an incident involving a video that went viral, to the point it prompted an investigation from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Nabil Ahmad, Azad Jazmin John Louis Jeffri, and Radin Amir Affendy of the 3 Pagi Era breakfast show are back on duty, the station confirmed in a statement. The statement made no previous mention as to why the announcers were put on leave, instead emphasising that they had gotten feedback from listeners who missed the trio's presence and their excitement on hearing of their return to the airwaves today. Thee three announcers had previously apologised after public uproar over a video uploaded to the station's media channel. It depicted Azad mocking the way Hindu devotees enter a trance while fulfilling their vows. Voices in the background, presumably his colleagues could be heard chanting 'Vel, Vel!' and laughing in response to Azad's antics. While the announcers, besides being placed on leave by their management, did not face any penalties, the station was fined RM250,000 under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 for uploading what was deemed offensive content on the Era FM official TikTok account.
