(Pexels) Police are investigating after a woman in her 60s was nearly the victim of a distraction theft outside a Guelph bank Tuesday afternoon. Shortly before 4 p.m., the woman called police after leaving a bank near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North. She said she had placed her purse in her vehicle when a man approached, yelling that something was wrong with her car and pointing to wires hanging down. As she went to look, a second man entered the vehicle and took an envelope of cash she had just withdrawn, according to police. The woman reportedly chased the suspects through the parking lot and recovered the envelope of cash from the ground. Police said both suspects are described as 'possibly Middle Eastern'. One man is believed to be in his 40s, approximately 5′4″ with a large belly, wearing a white T-shirt. The second man was described as in his 20s, about 5′10″, wearing a baseball cap and black medical mask. They were last seen leaving in a white SUV. Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Jessica Belcastro at 519-824-1212, ext. 7287.
