Later that same year, the couple faced a terrifying experience that made this moment even more meaningful. In late 2024, while on tour, Erbert suffered a serious medical emergency. She had a seizure backstage during a performance and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered a severe brain bleed, and she had to undergo emergency surgery. Her prognosis was uncertain at first, but Erbert made a full recovery and has since returned to everyday life. Now, less than a year after Erbert's health scare, the couple is celebrating a major life milestone.

Friends, family and fans were quick to leave comments on the Instagram video of how excited they are about the impending bundle of joy. And now Hough says he and Erbert can stop fooling everyone on social media. In an Instagram story on Thursday, July 24, Hough revealed that he has had to distinctly make sure Erbert was not seen in any of his social media videos lately — despite the fact that he has posted several videos in the past few weeks that feature his wife. "Not going to lie, I'm so excited to now include you in my videos now again because now everybody knows, and I can start having you in my videos again," says Hough in his IG story that shows Erbert and their dogs just enjoying life in their home."How cute does she look?! She looks so cute," he added because there is definitely a tiny baby bump showing. Indeed, just a quick glance at Hough's Instagram and it looks like perhaps the last video Erbert filmed in real time with no baby bump was in early June. In the videos posted since then, they are either hiding the baby bump or it was perhaps filmed prior to their being a bump to hide. Either way, Hough clearly had to be careful about any impromptu social media posts because they didn't want to let the cat out of the bag too early on. Hough and Erbert started dating 10 years ago this month, in July 2015. They met when Erbert was hired as a dancer on Derek and sister Move Live on Tour. Erbert was then hired as a Dancing With the Stars troupe member for six seasons. Fans are in awe after professional dancers Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert took to Instagram to share big news. Just one month ahead of their two-year wedding anniversary, Hough and Erbert announced that they are dancing into the next chapter of their life together, parenthood. Alongside a video set to a song performed by their friends Alexander Jean titled 'So Small,' Erbert captioned the post, writing, 'We can't believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small.' In the video, Hough is seen walking toward Erbert before they embrace in a hug. As Erbert wraps her arms around Hough's neck, she reveals a series of sonogram images revealing she's pregnant with their first child. Hough appears to be emotional toward the end of the video as he looks at his wife loving. Fans and friends were quick to share their congratulatory messages in the comment section. Their fellow Dancing With the Stars colleague Lindsay Arnold wrote, 'So beyond happy for you both! This is the best news.' Sadie Robertson, who was previously on the show, added, 'Awww yayy!! In late 2023, just months after getting married, Erbert suffered a medical emergency while performing with Hough in Washington, D.C. Erbert and Hough detailed her recovery after suffering a cranial hematoma and undergoing an emergency craniectomy, in addition to several other surgeries. Less than a year after suffering the medical emergency, Erbert returned to the Dancing With the Stars stage where she and Hough performed an emotional number describing the event.

DWTS' Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert Give Update on Family's Harrowing Health Crisis
On Friday, May 23, former Dancing With the Stars troupe member and her husband, pro-turned-judge , asked fans for "every prayer" they could send for Erbert's stepfather Jim who was about to undergo a "high-risk" surgery to remove a large tumor and other cancerous cells from his torso. There was no word about how it went until Sunday morning, May 25, when Erbert and her mother Debbie Schwartz updated everyone on the outcome of the surgery. Erbert wrote on her Instagram stories, "Update on my stepdad! Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers, love, etc."Her post linked to her mother's post that went into much greater detail on the harrowing 11-hour surgery that involved four different surgeons. "Going into this we knew it was a big surgery, (11 hours), and so many things were up in the air based on what the surgeons found once they started operating," wrote Schwartz, adding, "There were a total of 4 surgeons who operated. They removed about 20% of his liver, removed the right kidney, repaired the diaphragm wall with a patch, repaired the side of duodenum with stitches (this was huge because if the cancer mass was invading the duodenum and the small intestine they would have stopped the surgery and left the cancer mass in his body 🙏). They also removed some of the abdominal peritoneum plus repaired it, and removed the gall bladder. They did not need to remove the 2 ribs they had mentioned, or part of his colon which is also great news.
