Eric Bischoff Criticizes John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes For ‘Missing The Mark' At WrestleMania 41

WrestleMania 41 was a history-making event. A record that was held on for nearly three decades came to an end. It was when John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to become the WWE Undisputed World Champion for the 17th time in his career. While fans and the rest of the wrestling world are appreciating John Cena for breaking Ric Flair's record, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has revealed that he is not happy with the match. While speaking on the latest episode of the 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff shared that he felt that there was a lack of chemistry between John Cena and Cody Rhodes. He feels that when both stars rewatch the match, they should feel like they missed the mark. Advertisement 'I have to believe when both those guys watch this match back, they're going to go, 'We missed it. We missed the mark because that match just didn't create emotion…the responsibility is equal among the parties. The chemistry wasn't there. I don't think the story was there to begin with. The heel turn was soft. I didn't say it's bad, but it was soft. It wasn't compelling. There was nothing that felt different than a million other turns we've seen before. Yes, for all of you people who say I never criticize WWE, please pay attention. That story missed the mark from the get-go, and we talked about it here. And it just hasn't gotten any better. I believe it had a lack of heat, just lack of a good story,' Eric Bischoff said. [H/T Fightful] Do you agree with Eric Bischoff? Hulk Hogan And Eric Bischoff Reveal Their New Wrestling Venture

Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan unveil their plans. Earlier this week, WWE Hall of Famers Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan reunited in a black and white, NWO-style promo in which the latter asserted that they would 'slice and dice' the wrestling industry like they did before. The duo also teased the involvement of a 'third man' in their new project, one that Bischoff described as a decorated champion. Advertisement Today, Bischoff and Hogan revealed the third man as Israel 'Izzy' Martinez, both a decorated wrestler and wrestling coach, who will now serve as the Chief Operating Officer for this project. What exactly is the project? In a new promo, Bischoff and Hogan announced the launch of Real American Freestyle Wrestling, where competitors will get paid to beat people up and win. More Details On Real American Freestyle Wrestling Per a press release obtained by Forbes, Real American Freestyle Wrestling is an unscripted freestyle wrestling league involving storytelling and over 40 characters, which so far include former UFC fighter Ben Askren, former national champion Zahid Valencia, former Olympian and world champion Kennedy Blades. Advertisement 'Real American wrestlers are some of the most disciplined, elite athletes in the world — but until now, they haven't had a true professional stage to showcase their greatness,' said Hogan, Commissioner of Real American Freestyle. 'Eric and I know how to build the kind of heat that grabs attention and we're going to make Real American Freestyle wrestling a must-see for fans.' 'I intimately understand and appreciate what it takes to perform at the level these athletes do, and I was always curious why this sport wasn't recognized for the potential it has,' said Eric Bischoff, the brand's Chief Media Officer. 'The stories we have to tell at Real American Freestyle and the accomplishments of the wrestlers are extraordinary. Not only will the audience be entertained by the product but the entire sport will be lifted as a result.' According to COO Israel Martinez, Real American Freestyle will not only provide competitors with adequate payment and platform for their performances, but also an opportunity to build their brand, skills, and legacy. The project itself is notably being funded by Left Lane Capital. Television-wise, Bischoff confirmed to Forbes that they have yet to strike a TV deal as they are still in the very early stages of the league's launch. 'We're going to put forth our best effort and we're going to see where the chips fall,' he said. 'It'll be a long process. I'm realistic about that. We've got our work cut out for us.'
