It's been weeks, and The Young and the Restless' return of Cane has just not grown on me
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's been over a month since The Young and the Restless' Cane (Billy Flynn) revealed himself to Aristotle Dumas, and I've been patiently waiting to lock into this new iteration of the character. To really feel invested in his new ominous portrayal, this mysterious obsession with Chancellor and this need to prove he's a worthy adversary of Victor (Eric Braeden). Unfortunately, I'm admittedly just not a fan. Now to be clear, my feelings of disappointment don't rest on Flynn's shoulders. He's a fine actor, so this isn't directed at his talent. With that being said, Flynn has his own take on the Cane character that is markedly different from former Cane potrayer, Daniel Goddard. Flynn's Cane is a little more conniving and dubious in my opinion, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Especially, since there's still so much to be unpacked surrounding what Cane has been doing offscreen in his six-year absence from Genoa City. This brings me to the storyline that ushered Cane back into The Young and the Restless fold. For months, viewers watched as the hype around who could be behind Aristotle Dumas was developed. He was built up as a mystery billionaire who could compete with The Great Victor Newman when it came to business. So when Cane was revealed to Aristotle, it was like the math wasn't 'mathing.' Yes, I predicted Aristotle would be Cane a while ago based on the breadcrumbs left by show writers, but him confirming my suspicions and explaining he got the money to become a billionaire tycoon on the back of bitcoin investments, I just find it hard to believe. His reveal felt like The Wizard being shown to be a culmination of smoke and mirrors in The Wizard of Oz. Sure, it's possible the bitcoin story is true, but Cane and his father spent much of their previous time on the show involved in cons, scams and lies. It's hard to believe they reconciled before Colin (Tristan Rogers) died, and they went legitimate to amass this large fortune. Additionally, say what you will about Victor being a 'villain' in his own right, but the man is the savviest tactician in all of The Young and the Restless business world. Plus, he's had his share of enemies over the years, and you'd be hard pressed to recall one that's been able to defeat Victor (sure, he's lost a few battles, but never the war). And if Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) hasn't taken down The Mustache, I fail to comprehend how Cane thinks he'll be able to do the honors just because the size of his bank account has grown. He doesn't feel like a viable contender for the Newman patriarch. Also, let's talk about the fact that Cane's reveal quickly fizzled into a series of murders that feel premature. Damian (Jermaine Rivers) wasn't even on the show for a year before he was killed because of Cane's assistant. Damian's relationships with Nate (Sean Dominic) and Lily (Christel Khalil) were just starting to really cement, so I feel cheated that viewers won't get to see the possibilities thanks to Cane. Since I was already a bit disenchanted with him because of the Victor angle, this hasn't helped. Oh, and then to have Cane murder off one of the very few Chancellors left in Chance (Conner Floyd) feels like a slap in the face of longtime viewers. The Chancellor name once commanded respect, fear and adoration in Genoa City. Now, it feels like another great family is being phased out of the canvas of the show. Lastly, because I felt disconnected with Cane due to this 'rivalry' with Victor and his hand in Damian and Chance's murders, I've found it hard to enjoy this French excursion on The Young and the Restless, and it's lasted for weeks. So the trip coming to an end is a great thing in my book. While I'll just have to give this new Cane a little more runway to land the plane here, I hope it happens soon. Getting the real story of his newfound finances and him being shown why Victor is Victor for a reason are a great place to start. New episodes of air weekdays on CBS. Weekly Y&R Spoilers August 4-8: Victor Goes on the Offense, Jill and Billy Clash, Game Over for Audra
The Young and the Restless spoilers for August 4-8 reveal Victor making moves, taking aim, and clashing with family. Meanwhile, Jill and Billy finally have that long-overdue conversation. And time's up for Audra. Next Week on The Young and the Restless Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) isn't taking time to ease back into Genoa City life now that he's back from Nice. In fact, he's attempting a few preemptive strikes before Cane (Billy Flynn) is able to further his plan for GC domination. Early in the week, look for Victor to clash with family members Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and Adam (Mark Grossman). On Wednesday, Victor finally drops the hammer on Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and gives her walking papers, to no one's surprise. She and Victor had a deal, and Kyle (Michael Mealor) sussed out her seduction plan, and now she's experiencing the consequences. Victor will no longer fund Vibrante. How will Audra handle this major setback? On Thursday, despite Lily's reluctance to ever believe anything Victor and Nikki tell her again, Victor's latest strategy involves Lily (Christel Khalil). In the South of France, Victor probably witnessed Lily wanting nothing to do with Cane. Look for him to try to capitalize on that animosity when Victor wants Lily to join his revenge plot. Will she sign onto Victor's campaign against Cane? Meanwhile, on Friday, Victor makes an unexpected deal. Does he make it with Lily or someone else? WATCH THIS: SoapHub Says gives you the breakdown you don't want to miss! Mother and Son Share Potentially Savage Conversation Billy (Jason Thompson) has been done with his mom ever since she allowed Victor to gobble up Chancellor. But there's been little to no face-to-face interaction between the two since. Well, that's about to change when Jill (Jess Walton) and Billy share a heated exchange. There is no way a chat between this mother and son is going to be anything but heated. Billy feels an immense amount of betrayal. And it's colored everything that he has been doing since, including the fact that he is leaving Abbott Communications in Sally's (Courtney Hope) capable hands while he joins up with Cane to take back Chancellor. Will Billy pull any punches considering that Jill is undoubtedly experiencing grief over losing Chance (Conner Floyd)? Expect a lot of intense emotions to be exchanged. READ THIS: What's in store for these Y&R couples after Nice? Kyle's Busy Week Kyle will be happy to hear about Audra getting served what he thinks is justice for her shady tactics in Nice. However, he'll also have his own consequences to face. Next week, Kyle comes clean with Claire (Hayley Erin), presumably about how far he had to take things with Audra in order to prove she wasn't on the up and up. How will Claire react? By the end of the week, Kyle starts making his own proposals and it involves one of the Newman sons. What happens when Kyle tries to strike a deal with Adam? What's the purpose of this move and will Adam even take it seriously? READ THIS: Find out who was named Soap Hub's Performer of the Month for July 2025. Time for Chelsea to Get Off the Fence Finally, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is forced to take sides. Everybody knew this was coming, especially with the fact that Billy has made no bones about aligning himself with Cane. This has to be about choosing between her sympathies for Billy and the Newman family. With Victor on the warpath, there's no way he'll stand for Chelsea's attempts to get Adam to back off Billy. If Billy is firmly in Cane's camp, then all bets are off. She'll pick the Newmans over Billy, RIGHT??!! Solve the daily Crossword

'The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden Makes Bold Confession About Soaps
'The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden Makes Bold Confession About Soaps originally appeared on Parade. Eric Braeden has been part of the soap world for 45 years, playing the legendary Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. Although fans know him best as "the mustache," Braden has worked in other genres throughout his career. The veteran actor was the first guest on the new podcast Soapy, hosted by Days of Our Lives star Greg Rikaart (Leo) and The Bold and the Beautiful star Rebecca Budig (Taylor). During their chat, Braeden got real about working in other genres versus working on soaps.'People have no clue! Nighttime actors, theater actors who have done it all, have no clue what we do, none," Braeden said about the fast pace that soap stars work at daily. Rikkart wondered if the fast pace of soaps put a damper on Braeden working on other projects. Braeden also starred in Titanic and has appeared as a guest star on several primetime shows, including How I Met Your Mother. "It's bloody boring,' he shared, adding, 'We make very few friends doing a soap because we have no time to get to know each other. I remember all the friends I did nighttime with: Burt Reynolds, Jim Brown, Raquel Welch, and Planet of the Apes. I knew them all for years because you sit and you bulls--t. You have time in between scenes." In the soap world, that's simply not how things are done. There's only time for filming and getting business done. 'You have no time for that, none. You come on the set, you work. Boom,' Braeden expressed. There's no question that Braeden loves his job on The Young and the Restless and being part of the soap genre. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. 'The Young and the Restless' Boss Teases Victor's 'Summer' Rivalry With 'Adversary' Cane
'The Young and the Restless' Boss Teases Victor's 'Summer' Rivalry With 'Adversary' Cane originally appeared on Parade. The Young and the Restless executive producer and head writer, Josh Griffith, has big plans for the soap this summer. It's no secret that a majority of Genoa City's major players will be spending a good portion of the summer in France thanks to Cane (Billy Flynn). Having Cane back in the mix shakes things up for a lot of people, especially Victor (Eric Braeden). Even though Victor knew Cane was Aristotle Dumas, he kept that tidbit of information to stage has been set for Victor and Cane's rivalry to heat up this summer on The Young and the Restless. Griffith hinted at that when speaking to reminding fans to never count out Victor. 'He meets a very worthy adversary. I don't think Victor ever will lose. He will always win. He may face challenges, he may seem to stumble, but the great thing about Victor is that he always then reveals that he's been five steps ahead the whole time,' the Y&R boss teased. Speaking of Cane, Griffith admitted that he has a 'huge game plan' that keeps those around him guessing. Cane's motives aren't quite clear. The question of the summer will be whether Cane is back for revenge or his great love, Lily (Christel Khalil). 'All of our major players will find themselves caught in his web for most of the summer,' Griffith spilled about Cane. There's speculation that someone won't make it back to Genoa City from France alive, but Griffith didn't give any insight into that. However, we know that Conner Floyd is exiting the show because he has joined Days of Our Lives as the new Chad. If someone dies in France, all bets are on Chance. It's going to be one interesting summer on the CBS soap, so make sure to keep watching. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. The Young and the Restless spoilers: Victor's harsh punishment for Adam?
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Over the years, we've come to learn a few things about The Young and the Restless' Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He's a shrewd businessman, able to hold a grudge longer than anyone in Genoa City, a masterful tactician when it comes to his enemies and he demands loyalty from his family. Unfortunately for his family members, loyalty and obedience are often synonymous terms in his book. Knowing what we know, we don't see Adam's (Mark Grossman) refusal to do his father's bidding at Newman Media ending well. Victor has told his youngest son several times now that he wants Adam to use Newman Media to publish attack pieces against Billy (Jason Thompson), painting the Abbott as incompetent and an imbecile, among other things. However, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) has been in Adam's ear, telling him not to go after Billy. Call it guilt for cheating on Billy with Adam or a platonic love for Billy for helping bring her out of a dark time in her life, but Chelsea is adamant that Adam not use Newman Media to tear Billy down. So far, Adam has managed to stall his dad and honor Chelsea's request. That hasn't been easy, as Victor has been rather insistent and Billy has been poking Adam with insults. But before Victor left for Aristotle Dumas' party, he made one final demand of his son. Fast forward to The Young and the Restless episode airing on June 16, and Adam tells Chelsea that he won't do what Victor asked and will just face the consequences when The Mustache returns to Genoa City. We can't help but suspect that while Chelsea is proud of Adam, Victor will likely be furious. The Newman patriarch may even retaliate, and the father/son duo could again find themselves at odds. If we had to guess, there's a good chance that Victor fires Adam for the umpteenth time and puts someone else in charge as CEO of Newman Media. That would be a real shame, considering Adam worked so hard over the last two years to earn his father's trust and be welcomed back into the family business. But hey, Holden (Nathan Owens) is currently on the market for a job in Genoa City, so who's to say Holden can step into Adam's role? Even if Victor doesn't fire Adam completely, there's always a chance he demotes Adam to COO of Newman Media and gives Adam a boss. That could still be Holden, or perhaps he places Nick (Joshua Morrow) in the company's CEO chair. After all, with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) already as CEO of parent corporation Newman Enterprises and Victor far from retired, does Nick need to aid his sister? One thing we don't think Victor will do is kick Adam and Chelsea out of the other Newman Ranch. He's still a family man after all. However, Victor doesn't like it when people go rogue when he gives explicit instructions, so Adam should definitely brace himself. New episodes of The Young and the Restless air weekdays on CBS. Episodes become available to stream on Paramount Plus the next day.
