NFL scouts are raving about Auburn WR Eric Singleton
NFL scouts are raving about Auburn WR Eric Singleton Could Singleton end Auburn's five-year first round drought? Auburn football has not produced a first-round NFL draft pick since 2020. However, their luck could change in the 2026 draft. Auburn EDGE rusher Keldric Faulk is projected to end Auburn's skid. Still, another teammate could join him in the first round as NFL Rookie Watch sheds light on Georgia Tech wide receiver transfer Eric Singleton. NFL Rookie Watch recently profiled Singleton and provided a quality evaluation that will excite Auburn fans. NFL Rookie Watch says he "might be the nastiest route runner in the 2026 NFL draft class" and gave him the title of "route artist." NFL Rookie Watch also shared that several NFL scouts believe that Singleton could be a top-five wide receiver in next year's NFL draft class, with one scout comparing him to young NFL stars Devonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles and Calvin Ridley of the Tennessee Titans. NFL Rookie Watch also alerted fans that Singleton could be the fastest receiver this season with a clocked 40-yard dash time of 4.2 seconds. Singleton joins Auburn's roster after leading Georgia Tech in receiving yards the last two seasons, posting 714 and 754 yards respectively with nine total scores. Last season, he hauled in 56 of 90 targeted passes with four drops and eight "contested" catches according to Pro Football Focus data, with 32 of his catches resulting in a first down. Singleton ranks No. 24 in Pro Football Focus' "big board" for the 2026 NFL draft, with speed being the common denominator when evaluating him. Singleton is now with the (Auburn) Tigers after two seasons at Georgia Tech. His 1,468 receiving yards across his two years with the Yellow Jackets stands second among returning Power Four wideouts. He also scored above the 99th percentile in PFF's Game Athleticism Score metric. As that figure might suggest, Singleton has track speed with the ability to hit a home run at any point. His 664 receiving yards on deep balls since 2023 lead all returning Power Four receivers. Singleton will join Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons in Auburn's wide receiver room this season, looking to cross the threshold and play a major role in the Tigers' quest to become the most explosive offense in college football. 247Sports reveals Eric Singleton turned heads this spring at Auburn
247Sports reveals Eric Singleton turned heads this spring at Auburn Singleton's presence at wide receiver could propel Auburn's offense to a new level under Hugh Freeze. Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton had plenty of hype surrounding him, signing with Auburn as the No. 1 transfer wide receiver. So far, he has lived up to the hype. 247Sports recently revealed the top spring standouts from every top-25 team, where Singleton represented Auburn at the No. 20 slot. Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons return to the wide receiver room this fall, but Hugh Freeze needed one more experienced wide receiver to push production to a new level. According to Jason Caldwell of Auburn Undercover, Singleton fits the bill perfectly. "Auburn had Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons back after strong freshman seasons but was looking for another difference-maker at wide receiver," Caldwell said. "Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton lived up to advance billing in the spring and should give the Tigers another legit threat on the outside in Hugh Freeze's offense." Singleton led Georgia Tech in receiving each of the last two seasons, totaling 1,468 yards on 104 catches and nine touchdowns. According to Pro Football Focus, Singleton made 11 contested catches in the previous two seasons while dropping eight passes in 174 opportunities. He caught 59.8% of passes thrown his way, and 62 of his 104 receptions resulted in Georgia Tech first downs. He will pair well with Coleman and Simmons, who combined to reel in 77 of 104 targets for 1,049 yards and 11 scores last season. Auburn's two top returning receivers, paired with Singleton and Wake Forest transfer Horatio Fields, will make life easy for Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold as he prepares to take over the Tigers' offense in 2025. ESPN lists Auburn's Eric Singleton among college football's top receivers
ESPN lists Auburn's Eric Singleton among college football's top receivers ESPN's Max Olson believes that Singleton will be vital to Auburn's offense in 2025. Auburn football looks to take a giant step forward in offensive production this fall, and one of the nation's top wide receivers could help them achieve the goal. Auburn added the No. 1 transfer portal receiver, Eric Singleton, to its receiver room during the offseason to bring experience to a room filled with talent, including Cam Coleman and Malcolm Simmons. Singleton led Georgia Tech in receiving yards over the last two seasons and is expected to have that same potential at Auburn, writes ESPN's Max Olson, who placed Singleton at No. 5 in the best receivers in college football for 2025 ranking. Singleton has high draft stock and could reach, if not exceed, that potential in 2025, Olson writes. Singleton, the No. 4 overall player in ESPN's transfer rankings in December, was extremely coveted upon entering the portal. The former freshman All-American finished second in ACC Offensive Rookie of the Year voting in 2023 and has put up 1,849 all-purpose yards and 10 total scores over his first two college seasons. Singleton also ran track at Georgia Tech, with a personal best of 10.32 seconds in the 100-meter dash. The speedster is hoping to play up to his early-round NFL draft pick potential in an Auburn offense that seriously reloaded with portal pickups this offseason. In two seasons at Georgia Tech, Singleton hauled in 104 catches for 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns, catching 59% of targeted passes with eight total drops. He trails key receivers such as Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and Alabama's Ryan Smith in ESPN's rankings, while leading Oregon's Evan Stewart and Texas A&M's Kevin Conception.
