First Erie Times-News varsity sports poll for 2025-26 to determine preseason male golfer
It's no coincidence the Erie Times-News chose to start its first varsity poll for the PIAA's 2025-26 athletic year on the same day as the state's new golf season. District 10's players can officially start play on Aug. 7, with some of its top programs scheduled to appear in the Happy Valley Invitational at Penn State University's Blue and White Courses. That's the same State College layout where the PIAA tournament will occur in late October. This week's poll consists of returning district players who seek to be named the Times-News' preseason male golfer. The ballot will run from 5 p.m. Aug. 7 through 5 p.m. Aug. 11. The first male and female athlete of the week polls, plus a separate one for football players, will run Aug. 25-27. A reminder that going forward all district athletes — not just those from Erie County — will be eligible for the weekly polls and lists of top performers.
